A cyclist on Riversdale Cresent who had stopped to investigate his non functional cycle. He said his pedals had jammed. I checked the chain was not stuck. I could not move the pedals forwards or back. On closer inspection we found that the plastic locking cup had unwound from bottom bracket and had jammed tightly against the LHS crank. No chance of a toad side fix without crank tool.

Elderly man on Mayfield Road with a kid on a tagalong. Probably not quite the 8-80 that PoP talk about, but a lovely embodiment of the sentiment nonetheless.

I keep meaning to say that on Tuesday, as I was coming home along Morningside Drive with Mini- and Micro-Greenroofers, pushing my Elephant Bike* a chap on a bike coming the other way said with some emphasis "You've got an Elephant Bike!!!" to which I replied "Yes, I have!!".

*Did I tell you I had an Elephant Bike? It's great for the school run because you can bung all their clobber in the front box.

Big John for possibly the last time on the canal towpath this morning shortly after I finished flyering. He has moved to Eyemouth but was back to sort out some bits and pieces to do with his old house in Balerno, for which he is uncomfortable about how much it sold for. If only I'd heard he was moving sooner then maybe I could have worked out a deal for the sake of his conscience and my pocket...

Heinz Beanz Man was doing some maintenance outside Leith Walk Cycles mid-afternoon. Any further sightings will make it seem like he's being stalked.

What was he maintaining? The bike or the rollie?

the same people who make the Marmite tops make Heinz Beanz. Fairly common (both tops)

Now your Tunnocks Tea Cake top, that is a rarity

A bronze Pederson being ridden along Old Dalkeith Road this morning. It can be added to the green and red ones I occasionally spot!

After one of our best high fives ever on towpath with JdanielP my commute went rapidly downhill, I think largely related to the very slow four way light at new Boroughmuir, I entered traffic chaos with my ratho feeder ride flag pole still protuding out the back.

Lot of lorries, lot of people parking on single yellow just to pop in somewhere causing further pinch points

One cyclist taking a very forward position at the ji=unction to go down into the grassmarket nearly hit by big double decker coing down from fire station

hope none of this was linked to my flag pole, maybe i should take it down?

@gembo you say one of our best high fives, I say a nearly dislocated arm... It was fine again after a few moments.

Spotted Angelo the mostly-cross-Canada guy, recumbinating towards Colinton Village this morning. I didn't wave or say hi because I was in disguise as a motorbikist.

Huge big plastic road blocks preventing any traffic going down from cowgate to Holyrood or vice versa
