@iwrats, are you saying you dream about posting on CCE?
No swifts tonight but one very bright moon with one very bright planet under it and no clouds. Tonight is the night for a night time ride?
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

“The best way to see them is to find a dark area of sky with a clear southern horizon, away from the lights of the city. Take a deck chair, so that you're not straining your neck by looking up, and allow your eyes to adjust to the dark.

Do Audaxers dream of electric bikes?
@iwrats, nice. Is it wrong to get my sixteen year old lad into PKD?
I like to think there was a literary speed dealer in LA, went round to Jim Thompson's house then round to Phil's.
Those boys churned them out.
I would like to get into Maigret? But Simenon sometimes went for a philosophical angle and other times just churned out pulp to pay the rent. Anyone able to suggest best Maigret?
Is it wrong to get my sixteen year old lad into PKD?
Possibly. Sci-Fi makes you a bit weirder than you'd otherwise have been. I suspect it's a gateway drug for eccentricity and you never know where that's leading. At least he's doing it under supervision.
I've only ever read one Maigret and the only thing I remember about it is looking up and acquiring the word 'péniche'.
Back on spotted...
SRD family en masse spotted me while they headed up MMW while I was busy texting. (Tandem was parked so we couldn't really be missed + Mrs LB reverse spot)
Heard they were heading to East Lothian with a train boost on way out. Was quite windy on our way out to Gosford area.
Also saw a group of around 20 young riders with parents in Musselburgh at footbridge barriers over Esk. Infrastructure can't cope with these sort of numbers of course!
Kaputnik and the kaputnikule going past my allotment.
A matt black Vanmoof Electrified S on George IV Bridge. First leccy bike I've seen not uglier than the former Cairntow junk yard's dog.
Still not sure if I was hallucinating or not.
Two identical well-built Indian-looking gentleman with bushy hair and beards, topless apart from chunky gold necklaces, wrapped in white bath towels and talking loudly into mobile phones on a first floor balcony in West Mayfield.
So impressive were they that I saluted them from my bicycle but I fear their only response was, perhaps rightly, baffled disdain.
@Arellcat torpedoing along Strathearn Road last night. Tried my best to keep up, but it was hard work and then the traffic lights put me out of my misery.
did I see jdanielp going the other way along gilmore place at the 'narrow' spot?
Chap on a mtb at the top Capelaw Hill, are you on here?
I took the boy up Arthur's Seat to Dunsapie Hill yesterday evening by elephant bike. Lots and lots of roadies overtaking us. And joggers too! So slow is uphill progress by elephant bike that I was most comfortable going on the path. But we made it with only 1 stop (to take off the daft woolly jumper I thought I might need)
On the way down the other side we saw Marcus "single speed around the globe" doing a very aero single-speed freewheel down the road.
I think I saw the wheels of Wilmington's Cow aka the Orange Flash zooming off along the Broomhouse Path this evening about 520ish. Traffic lights and my own sluggishness on a bike these days conspired to mean I couldn't get close.
@SRD seems plausible. Sorry, I didn't see you.
Coming down Comiston Road this morning I spotted Uberuce, sporting a very fetching cycle cap.
@arellcat it was his fake birthday recently on facebook
I was spotted by nedd1e_h as we passed one another on the corner of the towpath by Cultins Road - unfortunately my sleep-deprived brain was too sluggish to react other than by saying "hi" in response to him greeting me by username.
Last weekend cycling to Ratho by the canal, kid of about 4 on a cycle pacing his mother in a kayak, who called to him to move over and let me pass.
Chap on an MTB on the summit of Arthur's Seat. He went up the same way as me (path from St. Anthony's Chapel) but got up much faster than I did initially, but I got to the top before him so didn't see which way he took to get up the Lion's Head.
The first topless (male) cyclist of the season seen last evening on the canal towpath
Was that DaveC?
Elephant Bike at Haymarket (spotted by my wife, who is coveting one and this spot hasn't done anything to change that)
Not ours.
@jdanielp
Hope my shout of "jay Daniel p hi" didn't come across rudely.
Also spotted towpath deer prior to that in opposite direction.
@neddie-h I find jdanielp responds best to a firm hi 5
