    An old white Surly Long Haul Trucker has started appearing on the racks at work. My bike made a friend! Haven't spotted the owner yet - considering leaving them a note...

    I like your bike or some such?

    Good prog on BBC 4 about the Liverpool poets

    Apparently in Liverpool in 1960s there was a bit of grafittii that said Billy Blake Is fab. Allen Ginsberg being a huge William Blake fan loved this when he arrived I Liverpool on his Beat Royal Visit

    @gembo hmm, I suppose it might sound like I'm trying to set up our bikes for a play date... (I just want to know where they've been with it!)

    £1,000 worth of e-bike secured at Cameron Toll with a brass padlock and what appeared to be the chain from a bathroom sink plug.

    The spotted thread, which I couldn't find using the search tool when the thread had dropped off the edge.

    Something that looked like a small thin motor scooter with pedals along Wester Coates a week or so ago. Dark blue. Guessed it was an electric bike.

    @Rosie

    Just Google 'CCE spotted' and it's the first suggestion.

    Lothian Bus, turning right from Lothian road, up fountainbridge. No 1 heading to clermiston

    Nothing remarkable about that?

    It was electric

    A nice black fat bike at the Hope Park Crescent/Terrace lights. Hope the lad riding it realised it was his wheels and not him I was eyeing speculatively.

    First Bus roaring behind me on Dalry Road. Wondered if it was abnormally loud, or whether I'm used to the quieter Lothian buses.

    Massive tailbacks Dalry/Gorgie/Muireston - road works I think.

    Man wearing a doughnut shaped sun hat specially designed to fit around a bike helmet. I think it had an zip, so that it could be worn without a helmet too.

    @Frenchy no pictures? Woe.

    Also spotted today: a lass at the Equate session I was at (early 20s?) who rode Edinburgh-Copenhagen the other year. On a sit-up-and-beg Dutch bike! She kept telling me she had been really slow compared to her (fast hybrid riding) boyfriend. Hmmm. She is now in the market for a road bike & getting annoyed with the lack of women's spec'd bikes you can actually find in store to test ride (I have signposted her to the appropriate places for advice/purchase).

    @unhurt - something a bit like this: https://www.sunsibility.co.uk/shop/dabrim-sun-protection-visors/dabrim-sun-protection-visors/201/0/1270/cycling-classic-helmet-visor/

    I could have been wrong about the zip.

    Those are... probably quite effective? (I would choose sunstroke first!)

    @gembo - I saw an e-bus no 24 other day. Of course if all Lothian buses went electric that would be quite a power bill. Also wonder what weight an e-bus is. Assume they are 'quite heavy' and will make low carbon potholes.
    That said it is quite a step forward after being talked about for decades.
