@sallyhinch point. @dougal I will take all those under consideration!

@Iwrats just a slowish cowp while dithering about where I was supposed to turn. Brakes on, back wheel went sideways, and then it seemed best to let gravity have her way. A nice young lady stopped her car to check if I was / wasn't damaged and I was an undignified and muddy workshop attendee afterwards so the primary injury was to any lingering sense of professionalism...

Wilmington's Cow (FOTP) whizzing down the Lanark Road with a trailer rattling along behind him. It looked as though the trailer had a mount a bit like HankChief's bike carrying mount but he was gone so fast I couldn't really see it properly.

(Phew, edit window was still open.)

I think @undignified has a nice ring to it.

Ah. Maybe it wasn't W.C. Now you say it I remember he'd had an accident. Maybe it was one of the Daves. I get confused. Definitely someone on here.

Madame IWRATS spotted the velomobile. Slightly freaked out by the speed at which it was advancing through Longstone and wanted to know what the Hell it was.

@IWRATS - did she mention the noise. My experience of the Red Torpedo tends to be 'thrumm thrumm thrumm' growing in volume rapidly from behind, before a flash of red comes by and disappears into the distance ahead of me.

Ah, OK. Dave Mc, then. Apologies for any confusion. ;-)

    @Greenroofer

No mention of noise. Just speed. Much speed.

Spotted Fimm last night at traffic lights in Balerno. I was on a bus that took 1 hour 15 mins to get to York place. The previous bus had not shown up so the next one took forever.

Fimm was ahead of the bus then I imagine home, cooked a three course meal and necked some Minervois La Liviniere before I was even off the bus

Last week at Edinburgh train station I spotted a traditionally clad gent pushing a large bicycle (700cc) which looked like a larger Moulton. I think the frame sticker said Rovus??

A couple on St John's Road, with one towing a trailer with kids. The other was sensibly taking the outside of the lane at the back. Anyone here?

Possible spot of DaveC on a recumbent on Cramond Prom.
I was escorting microbiketrain, who was pedalling his go-cart.

Small caravan on Leith Walk, with adult + tagalong, followed by child followed by second adult. Going up hill towards the chaos.

A whole herd of bike trains outside Holy Rood High School yesterday.

Kids on tagalongs, kids on seats, kids on the pavement, kids in trailers. Couldn't make it up.

@gembo "Fimm last night at traffic lights in Balerno" I was at the Balerno traffic lights about 2pm on Sunday, I guess. Or do you mean Friday evening? That could also have been me (and I would have had the distinctive pannier on Friday but not Sunday).

Spotted what looked like a Surly frame retrofitted with what looked and sounded like a mini petrol 2-stroke engine chugging along Leith Links near the orchard. The petrol tank was the size of a bike bottle and fitted to the top tube and the engine seemed to be attached to the down tube near the bottom bracket. It looked a neat piece of engineering but surely not legal!

IF it has a speedo and lights, tax and insurance, then I think it's possible to "make" them legal.

However yeah, most likely not. I have a cousin in law that used to commute in from South Queensferry on one of those. He did it for a few months until he realised that he was fit enough to ride without actually needing the engine.

It had normal bike blinkies on, but no number plate so presumably not taxed or insured. A quick scan on ebay shows you can pick up a kit for £80 or so.

A bicycle with a retro-fitted engine is an autocycle, a precursor of the moped.

The Isle of Man TT races are still organised by the Auto Cycle Union founded in 1903.
