Oh yeah, small group on cyclocross bikes going through Mortonhall this morning. They reached a gate, and one of them tried to track stand as they waited for the person at the front to open the gate. Unfortunately for them, there were other people watching, so the inevitable clipless fall happened.

Looked like they picked a soft spot, so pretty sure their dignity was the only thing to be bruised. Thanks for the giggle, if you're on here (and sorry for giggling if you actually were hurt).

In the old days Santa might have brought you things with a Raleigh logo...
Now Santa is working for Apple/Samsung via Amazon.

There's an Apple ad on with a young lad on a bike (not sure what age). He cycles around the city between wi-fi zones and then gets into the 'real' activity which is connecting with the world on his iPad. (Lovely to see a place safe enough for him to exist - maybe Portland?).

Someone says to him "are you on your computer?". He replies; "what's a computer?".

HankChief and the Chieflets braving an icy Pinkhill path - studded tires working well.

I was well wrapped up walking the dog so there was no reverse-spot

That was us returning from PY. Daddy Day care style ;-)

The tyres were excellent today. No issues - I was a bit wary descending MMW but soon built up courage of their effectiveness. By the time we got to Pinkhill we were flying along, although we did have to stop to play in the snow - you may have noticed the snow angels

Wouldn't have ventured out without them.

WorkCycles cargo bike on the Pinkhill path: as well as the pilot there were two kids on bikes.

Another cyclist going down Lasswade Road* this morning wearing a Lumos helmet.

*This is almost spotted-worthy by itself.

Poor chap wheeling a punctured bike along the canal this morning. Hope he found a tube somewhere. I was on the MTB so had the wrong tubes for his bike otherwise I'd have offered to help.

I managed to collect an experimental half-link chain from Greenroofer this morning, yet I did not spot him... However, I did just spot SRD and mini-SRD cycling on their tandem along Teviot Place.

@jdanielp - that's because at the time you were trying to spot me, I was out with mini-Greenroofer trying to spot the 1125 from Grangemouth to Millerhill via Craglockhart Junction (we failed, arriving at Bruce Street too late). while failing at this, we did manage to spot @DdF resplendent in the sunshine with fluorescent yellow jacket and bright red Brompton.

Air traffic controllers at it again. Sturgeon must resign.

Would be more impressive (and resignation-worthy) if they'd arranged a Lion Rampant...

The Lord Lyon controls the use of the Lion Rampant. Rules are strict and he's not a man who lets things go lightly. Suspect it would be shot down in minutes.

    This one?

Light engine manoeuvre, though I don't know what was running today.

@Arellcat - yup, that's the one. I misunderestimated how long it would take to walk to Bruce Street and we weren't there until 1139. Oddly, though, we didn't hear it go by while we were walking there, so whatever it was it was pretty quiet Presumably, therefore, not a Class 37

[I don't think one needs to be a rail fan to find the All the Stations YouTube series rather wonderful]

*Later edit: the bit of the video you want is at 12min 4 seconds, but I can't persuade that link to appear on here...

@greenroofer, talk me through the mis underestimating and the difference between that and say underestimating please, if you do not mind?

@gembo. misunderestimate is a word I rather like. I have nothing to add to this.

    @greenroofer, excellent provenance.

Now as my child wrangling days are more to do with handing out money I think back fondly to when I would mis underestimate the length of time a walk might take to finish. I mean that I had already lied about how long it was great going to take but it took even longer than even I really thought it would?

Spotted: 3 kayakers on the Water of Leith on Saturday.

    @ fimm

    Which bit?

Human powered boats of any sort on the WoL are rare.

Surprised that the Cockburg St/Shore area doesn’t see much gentle boating.

I have used a canoe in the Roseburn/GMA section - just because I knew someone who lived close by and happened to own one! (Quite shallow most of the time.)

Surely there are ‘adventurers’ who have gone from Balerno to Leith?

I saw a guy on a sort of kayak/paddle board cross standing up and poling or paddling upstream near Juniper Green last summer.

@chdot you'd want to know where to get out to portage round the weirs. But maybe you could gently float all the way on an old lorry inner tube? (Grappling hook for stopping at weiry bits?)

Went over the weir at Chesser a few times on a tractor inner tube in my yoof. Always wondered if you could get all the way on such a contrivance.
