@Hankchief in disguise. By which I mean he had no passengers and a normal length Helios. He was still wearing shorts though despite the ice.

Despite this morning's iciness, I was overtaken on the canal towpath by somebody cycling a skinny-tyred racing bike who I later spotted jumping off their bike half-way across the Slateford Aqueduct and seamlessly switching to a jog having slung their bike over their shoulder, running along the very edge of the cobbles so as to pass oncoming traffic.

about six articyulated lorries coming down the back of slateford station, the old folks home must be beyond completion date so developer trying to avoid penalties.

THen a great deal of iciness en route to towpath and some iciness on the path.

However, I was still earluy for my appointment in a home near the Lift Bridge so I purchased a coffee from the barge and moved chair pover to sunshine and sat watching trhe world go buy, including Spytfyre who has posted here sporadically since the get go or thereabouts.

Morningsider spotted me just before I misjudged the speed of a number 16 bus coming up morning side rd and me starting up and across the hill on the helios...

also spotted another helios with stoker and child seat:
    me: nice bike
    him: thanks..Oh, nice bike!

@srd, I asked one of the workies directing the lorries when they would be finished. But he was only there to fill in a hole. He did agree they would be resurfacing the entire road.

Weirdness from the bus home on Friday: apologies for low-res phone picture, but if you zoom in you can just about see that the guy on the bike passing the Barbour shop has a second set of handlebars mounted below the ones he's using. Why??? Was my main thought, thus the picture taken just before he was out of view. Had a better view with actual eyes. They were lacking bar tape or grips but I think the red dot on the right hand side (facing) is a bell...

I tested out wine-carrying in an ordinary bottle cage at the weekend. It works just fine but you better like your vino well chilled.

Spotted and today's considerate cycling: gembo giving way to me on the Slateford Aqueduct and Lilac Helmet Lady holding back from overtaking a pedestrian to let me pass at Kingsknowe, which indicates that I did manage to leave earlier than normal this morning. I'm aiming to arrive at Heriot-Watt a little earlier every day as the week goes on for the benefit, ironically, of being on the campus early but not actually working later in the week, and possibly for some time going forward.

Was that @jdanielp I passed on the towpath at about 5pm this evening? Our paths crossed under the tramway bridge at Craiglockhart. It looked like jdanielp, but it was odd as he was heading out of town at the time.

@Greenroofer I was at work until 7 today. Quiet ride home on the towpath thereafter but no obvious badgers despite my singing the badger song to try and tempt one out (and to dance). I was spotted by Rurigdh from Sustrans on MMW, which reassures me that my front light isn't too blinding.

Questionable Laura Ashley style interior design choices, a plethora of different bars for different classes of seaman, and a lot of ammunition for the antimonarchically inclined at the Royal Yacht Brittanica. I wouldn't have paid £16 to see it but I had free passes. The German pronounced the British Royal Family to be quite embarrassing.

High points: rum ration only ended in the 1970s. As did hammocks! Individually identified napkins for officers. Who dined to music provided by members of the Royal Marine Band.

Tell her we voted Leave and we'll be getting Boudicca on a throne made of human bones in due course.

Battenberg-Sax-Coburg-Gothas can go back where they came from.

    @gembo

The Lord Advocate vs MacCormick established the right of the sovereign to style themselves in any way they wish.

I for one welcome the ascension of King Reg.

@iwrats Regine says that is acceptable, we can do what we like, but she is afraid that we have to keep the Royal Family as they don't want them back. Sorry. But those are apparently the breaks.
