    @wingpig - was Thursday. I was delivering UA Cargo turning left down Morrison from WAR access.

    Oke-Ja is a quite small, older, more upright ligfiets. The Flevo company still make a two wheeled recumbent called the 'Green Machine'. This has chain enclosed within frame and has a Rohloff 'gear box' also incorporated in frame. 3 frame sizes and various colours. Velomobiles and cargo quads also feature with them.

    Two people in normal clothes with normal bicycles leaving Seafield Prom, which made the person with them in a bicycle-racing costume look all the more unnatural.

    Spotted on the canal (but have seen elsewhere before): white kiddie back full size tandem.

    Bloke piloting, child stoker, but two other child seats also attached.

    One a standard back seat on a carrier or seat post, but one a top tube type seat between pilot and stoker (I think I'd want it in front of pilot??).

    Dude on a nice Kalkhoff e-bike on George IV bridge, civvies no helmet. Think he was new to cycling as he tried to follow the red gutter stripe down the Mound at low speed. Ran into the parked trucks, got squeezed by a bus, tailgated across Princes Street etc.

    Also a gentleman dutifully wheeling his Brompton through the MMW works with hi-viz tabard, flashing rear light and Go-Pro strapped to his bicycle hat.

    Sunny bank holiday cycling shouldn't really involve any of that stuff.

    Two of those people on those pedal-operated floating canal craft on the canal somewhere between Cutlins and the Riccarton exit at Saturday lunchtime. One was stuck near the bank making plaintive rattling noises as they fruitlessly turned the pedals whilst the other made a telephone call, presumably to the tech support.

    Met this interesting bit of engineering while on a fruitless quest for an open chemist in Newington today:

    Unless I'm hallucinating somebody is playing Michael Jackson's Pretty Young Thing on the bagpipes in the West End. It's only just audible and yet I cannot unhear it.

    The daddy of scaffolding bikes in cycle service today. A van moof. With such oversized bars that it could contain a motorbike chain inside its frame.

    Oh - this reminds me that there was a chap walking a ferret on a lead on the WoL path / Warriston Path last night.

    Waiting in front of the theatre last night a lovely semi-Pedersen framed bike came past on tyres that appeared to be micro-machined stainless steel snake skin integrated into the rims and I asked someone with a camera phone to get oh hang on I've had a bicycle dream haven't I?

    Many people (well three or four) gathered at the west end of the Slateford Aqueduct to see the Wester Hailes swans and their cygnets. It would seem from the overheard chat that there may now be fewer than seven cygnets...

    @gembo

    It was indeed snell. My windcheater failed to cheat it.
