Wilmington's Cow on an Elephant Bike on Baird Road.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Chap on Transport for Edinburgh bike on high st at luncheon
Greenroofer, Bill, ducklings five, jdanielp. In that order on towpath, home time.
Someone cycling a bakfiets on Mayfield Road earlier. Cargo was a very small child in a baby seat. Apparently, but not unreasonably, they did not feel safe cycling through the Mayfield Road/Liberton Brae/Kirk Brae junction, so got off and pushed along the pavement. Didn't spot a battery, so chapeau to them if they cycled up either of Liberton Brae or Kirk Brae. Indeed, chapeau if they pushed it up.
Not cycling related... I spotted an interesting piece of pavement sculpture today in Pilton (probably been there many years but I have never noticed it before). I am failing dismally to find out any backstory (like what the pictures are referring to and why there is no W compass point).

Four Roseburn Primary kids cycling together to school on the new bit of the WoL path beside the stadium.
<insert comment about Dutch schoolchildren here>
A cyclist at the bottom of the Mound in civvies. So fine were they that I missed the green light. It is summer and I am human.
A gun, 105mm, field, L118 at the Meadows Compass. Not sure who it was aimed at.
Who was aiming it?
Members of the 40th Regiment Royal Artillery.
Saw those sojers this mornign, also alarmingly the squaddies out running up WoL path with guns. Usually I see them first without guns, then guns, then full kit
Also Cooncillor McVey in meeting room with the cycle helmet
@acsimpson This evening at the N end of the bridge. Apparently, according to Str@va we passed just above the Cramond Brig this morning as well - maybe you were among a peleton of about 4 or 5 that I was too busy making sure I avoided on the narrow path...
I wasn't in a peleton although had just passed/ was about to pass a single cyclist at that point. I may have been just behind them and so neither looking far ahead nor very visible. I also had a jacket on which wasn't red.
DaveC was about a bridge length behind you when I spotted him last night.
Finally got a wave this morning from someone with a beard who I'm not sure I can put a name to. If it was you then hi.
Cycling in Glasgow last night, I spotted some signs saying "Cyclists caution access ahead".
Without knowing what the access had done wrong, I didn't really feel comfortable doing much more than telling them to be more careful in future.
All going on on the Brunstane path. Part of the Harrison Park feeder ride wobbling about in PoP teeshirts on a Helios and other bikes.
A high-end XC MTB being ridden fast by a youth with a hoodie pulled tight over his baseball cap to obscure his face I was not about to enquire after his business.
Kaputnik and smallNik on Porty Prom this evening.
12 minutes from Meadowbank to the beach and no fighting for a parking space. Why was nobody else elephantbiking to the beach today?
Ein doppelgänger von Algo am WeeHailes.
“no fighting for a parking space”
Any bike parking spaces?
@Frenchy well, at least you tried. I have been increasingly spotting signs demanding that the reader should 'Apologise for the disruption' next to building sites around Edinburgh, with the logo of the building company placed above. I'm afraid that I have been routinely ignoring the requests.
Madame IWRATS is sad that CCE hasn't provided the identity of the guy on the Helios on the Brunstane path on Saturday with a lilac shirt tied round his head and a Harrison Park feeder ride flag.
A Google Street View car driving around Heriot-Watt just now, which could lead to me appearing for a third time. The first time was as a pedestrian on Mayfield Road near the dentist. The second time was also on the campus and was captured by a bicycle rig which was cycled along The Walk, although I was barely visible at work in my office. This time I will be walking near the new Marriott Hotel.
@ jdanielp - it was probably part of the Google jdanielp View app, soon to be launched. Sort of like The Truman Show.
@Iain McR thanks for choosing the classier reference (I never did see EDtv).
Tiny cameras embedded in kingfishers?
@jdanielp - how much time did you spend stalking yourself?
@biketrain umm... I checked back on and off at the spots that I thought that I might show up until I did. Despite the fact that I have now gone from both of those spots I do still have screengrabs somewhere or other. I will post back if and when I show up this time.
Tight security in front of the General Assembly of the Kirk O'Scotland. Not sure what trouble they're expecting. A Covenanter army?
The traffic light for the turn from Semple Street into Morrison Street has been flattened by RLJing cyclists and now it's chaos. Yellow box free for all.
An eight (or nine - I am not good at estimating the ages of human larvae) year old boy cycling an £800 mountain bike up Craigmillar Park using SPD pedals in rush hour. Not sure if he was on his own or accompanied, impressive either way.
Flying Scotsman motoring out of town through Curriehill Station at 8.37. Driver gave me a wave after I finished taking photographs.
