That reminds me that a second beehive has recently appeared on the far bank of the canal behind Temple Park Cresent gardens.

@jdanielp, always something going on over at that bit of the bank.

@iwrats, these bees could be what you might call the new tradition. indtref2greenRainbow Kayaking bees, if I have the right stretch of canal, as the banners that used to fly from that spot are anything yo go by?

Cllr Mark Brown on his ebike on St John's Road. I think he is inseparable from that bike - I saw he's done over 600 miles since getting it at the start of the year.

@DaveC heading into Carlisle as I was heading out. I understand @gembo and @acsimpson where on the route somewhere, but our paths did not cross.

Indeed, we were much later but still arrived back in Edinburgh in darkness. Ronde gave us a tow to Moffat so we were early. Dave C was very correct about the chip shop midges, I failed to queue. Apparently you can get midge burgers now? I might be on adventure show as stole a chip from the journalist. Also they filmed AC and I for some considerable time around glencorse. But I imagine they will have a fair bit of footage. The fairy lights twinkling all the way up the beef tub were pretty. The slog from crook inn to Penicuick in darkness sort of soul destroying in a Zen sort of way. Penicuick was still lively at 2a.m. The locals gave us much encouragement. All merry. Many thanks to @acsimpson for organising

@jdanielp you probably know the owners of the original hive. is the new one near it?

@SRD not that I'm aware of but I wouldn't be surprised. It is nearby, but a little closer to the water.

More of an un-spot. Popped down to the "let's Ride" on the meadows today with the wife-on-bike and baby-in-trailer-formally-owned-by-algo-of-this-parish.

I spotted a sum total of one person I know from "cycling circles" (Claire). This is both great because it means there are so many more cyclists in Edinburgh than you sometimes thing, but also sad because it meant that fior most of these people the only way to get them anywhere near the city centre even on a weekend was to close most of the roads.

Spotted Kim at the farmers market chatting to the Biltong lady while I bought some lardons.

A chap struggling up Holyrood Road this morning on a sit-up-and-beg (gearing issues?) dressed in blazer and tie, glasses and......cycing helmet on his head the wrong way round. At first I thought it was just and unusual sun visor, but no.

Sigh. Hope he doesn't knock his nut on anything as I doubt it will be very effective protection like that.

@gembo good to know. I considered stopping for a snack but didn't. Any idea what kind of locks they'll be supplying?

@jdanielp - when they were in St Andrews Sq, I got one of these. I wouldnt use it as a main lock, but for a pop-into-the-shop lock its OK. sits under my desk.

@greenroofer. Apologies for not stopping. I caught you out of the corner of my eye as your face appeared familiar, and you were smiling at me...

@Gembo & ACSimpson. Sorry about not meeting up. My phone was dying so I turned it off to save the little power I had left. I then arrived at Bitts Park and spotted Simon, one of the Adventure Show cameramen. He very kindly offered me a coffee so I joined them and sat around next to their van while they got ready. Then I left with them, having completely forgotten about meeting or looking for anyone else.

I did speak to our old friend Murray avec Van, who was taking bags back to the Burgh.

@Iain McR thank you! No sign of a silver or gold standard sticker or similar? Were they swapping with any old lock?

@gembo apologies. Probably due to going for a high-five at the last possible moment and then slightly misjudging it.

I spotted Cllr Lesley Macinnes heading out of town along George IV Bridge at around 21:30 last night on her e-bike. She seemed to be impressively layered up and took the lane confidently ahead of two cars approaching Bedlam Theatre.

@IWRATS I'm afraid that I wasn't aware of that, although I have been to Deepdale a few times despite not being a particular football fan so may have skirted the end of it at some point. That is quite some cluster of streets named after birds...

@gembo and apologies for the missed high five this evening. Undercompensated to avoid any more punching...

A second spot of Cllr Lesley Macinnes in one week, this time arriving towards the tail of an SNP contingent, including Cllr Adam McVey, arriving for some post-meeting drinks at The Castle Arms on Victoria Terrace. I'm here with a Green Contingent, already here for post-meeting drinks.

Yesterday afternoon, a bicycle powered by a small two-stroke engine coming down the Roseburn path. It filled the whole path with two-stroke fumes for next mile or so.

Actually, that made me really angry to have to breathe those fumes, especially while climbing in the opposite direction.

I come on the NEPN to avoid the fumes, not to have to breathe the worst possible type. One person spoiling it for everyone else.

@Roibeard cargo biking south around Buccleuch Street with style in the sun as I crept back from IKEA in rush hour traffic.

I saw the guy on the 2-stroke bike yesterday as well. He just seems to be pootling about. I was eastbound on the Balgreen path sailing down from the railway overpass when he passed going the opposite direction. Then a few minutes later he passed me going in the same direction. I caught him up at the Balgreen road light and got ahead, and he maintained a presence somewhere behind me (judging by the sound) until I got to Roseburn park, by which time he'd disappeared off somewhere else.
