As I trundled into town along Gorgie Road yesterday someone shouted at me out of a passenger window, "You're holding up the traffic!" But it was ok, it was RabidHamster. It was only a shame my green light came as soon as it did.

Something militarily greenish, possibly with a flat fin along the top of the downtube with something like "BSRCYCLE" stencilled out of it, heading up Leith Walk from the fit thereof. Looked slightly electric.

    white? no logo?

I was parked up next to it this morning, but it was gone when I left this afternoon. Now I know where to.

    Yes white, with yellow tyres.

"Fixie perchance? The fakenger look has spread beyond Shoreditch and NYC then? "

I'm afraid so. Run (pedal) for the hills! (they can't follow us up there...)

Yes.. . one of these one's where you're just about to give a robust response and then you realise it's a forumer. Hamster hasn't been on here for a while....

His trike should have been out on the twelve hills challenge (Just realised that we missed out Fishmarket Close so need to do again!)

One here has black, tyres, quite well worn. Indeed entire bike more used-looking than yours. and possibly not such teeny-weeny handlebars, but definitely on the short side.

This is a stealth spot and a half. My desk looks out a large window towards the Castle and Arthur's Seat (seriously, I have a stunning view to work beside, it's open at the other side as well over Murrayfield and Tynecastle to the hills). Anyway, it also looks over a building next door, and into the glass sided staircase on the side of it, and I just saw Steveo walking down the stairs. If he'd looked up I could have waved...

And I thought my view over looking the junction was good for stealth spots!

Rather nice fixie in British racing green, outside Biketrax. Look, no brakes!

    That fixie is absolutely lovely.

A couple of times I've spotted a lady heading out of town up Comiston Road on an electric bike. It's of Brompton proportions but looks more like a moped or electric scooter. Fairly goes along on the level, but on the hills it's a target!

That looks very like the BRG fixie I saw being wheeled by a pretty lady in a dress out by Luffness. I couldn't possibly comment on the legality of the brakes situation.

I took a photo for chdot outside Bruntsfield Tesco, but unfortunately my stupid phone hasn't saved it, even though I saw it in my photostream on the phone after I took...

Anyway, plain blue Moulton. Single Speed. Looked like a drum brake on the back (or maybe it was a very discrete hub gear, I couldn't see a lever though). Flat carbon bars. Selle Italia road-style saddle.

    Distinctive.

There was a silver Dawes tandem heading out of town into Musselburgh about 1230 as we headed back into town.

That could be a Fullarton Wheelers shirt? In which case there could be an Obree link for the promotional launch of the new timetable including named "Flying Scotsman" service?

I thought his bikes were pink these days, but by the look of the lack of brake levers on it could be a track bike.

    Right.

    Obree is the most 'obvious'.

Only reference I've seen to this morning's launch is "a cyclist and a piper".

Of course the "cyclist" won't be actually there to advertise 'bikes on trains' but...

Train due in King's Cross in 2 minutes.

The one I saw was probably dark green too. hard to tell.

Also saw/chatted with bloke on a red tandem (not sure of make) last week, on Duncan street. I saw him pass as we were on upper gray street and then came up behind him. My stoker wanted to know if his bike was configured for a child. I think he is probably used to getting comments from other cyclists, but when he realised the question was actually from a child on a tandem, he was amused. We ended up having a good chat (and helios was much admired).

Still, that new timetable will be a useful alternative to flying for me getting to London on the odd occassion I have to go down for a meeting.

It's 20 mins earlier than a previous '4 hour train'.

Presumably to attract 10 o'clock meeting in central London people.

As long as someone else us paying...
