An Auld Reekie Roller Girl (according to a helmet sticker at least) cycling out of town on the towpath this morning.
I haven't been to watch a bout in several years now after becoming briefly interested around the release of Whip It.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

I think that was @amir I saw being braver than I and cycling home. Up Kirk Brae?
Sorry to let you down @frenchy. I'm more sensible than you thought. I wimped out by doing a ride from home pre storm and pre commute
Must be someone else with good taste in bikes who goes out that way then.
someone else with good taste in bikes
The Scaffolding Bike™ is too rugged to be hurt by such talk.
The laddie doth protest too much?
Won't anyone spare a thought for the mongrels?
@IWRATS I much prefer moggies to pure bred cats, which is one of the reasons why I still haven't made it along to Maison Dr Moggy.
Spotted 3 police cars in the Lidl car park in Dalry. Thought "Hmm I wonder what has happened?" and then forgot about it. Then read this:
Man dies after being found in woods in Edinburgh
"A 48-year-old man has died after being found with serious injuries in woodland in Edinburgh. The man was discovered behind the Lidl supermarket in the Gorgie/Dalry Community Park at about 02:00."
Chap with a very bright orange jacket, and hair almost co-ordinated (naturally so I think), pulling over to dismount from his cycle at top of Leith Walk before it becomes Picardy Place. He was singing (rather out of tune) The Smith's "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" at the top of his voice, presumably to be heard over the roaring traffic. I had an inkling he was heading for Planet Out...
I think I might be sitting (inside) near Urchaidh (outside) at the Beachfront Cafe in Porty.
Also spotted Rad on his orange Streetmachine cycling past.
@Arellcat Yeah, that we me outside with the family. Was just about too cold for sitting outside, hadn't accounted for the breeze.
The bearded chap on the recumbent is @Rad? I've spotted him a few times on Porty Prom and was fairly sure I recognised him from a PY, but had no idea of his (forum)name.
@urchaidh
Yeah, it was me (I go by different name on this forum btw). I noticed a bunch of recumbents parked there and briefly considered popping in, but the place was quite packed, so...
Nice full moon above the clouds.
fimm and husband of fimm heading the opposite way through Craiglockhart Woods to myself and girlfriend of jdanielp yesterday morning, despite our common desination of the Pentlands. They were running more directly while we were cycling via the canal, Water of Leith and reservoirs, which explains the opposing directions. This marked the first real test of my new bike, a Genesis Tarn 10 27.5+ tubeless set up, which I had been admiring in the Biketrax sale all year and eventually gave in and bought a couple of months ago.
Spotted Algo and childs in the meadows when meeting my parents. He spotted my trailer which used to be his trailer.
Older child was most excellent telling me that she had a new bike with gears. And that 7 was her favourite.
@ARobComp - lovely to see the trailer being used and its occupant so cheerful.
7 is her favourite, but probably not mine when we need to set off sharpish....
Younger child in seat which I bought from @crowriver initially for older child, which is still going strong...
Spotted the Mighty Kaputnik on the towpath this morning.
He went for a How type hi-5 greeting
all cool
Reverse spotted by gembo at Harrison Park. I was not yet in full possession of my faculties so didn't really return the hail until it was too late
Passed another cyclist coming the other way through Seafield Cemetery, which is rare in itself. As we were about to pass, a thrill seeking squirrel darted across the road between us, alarming close to getting under both front wheels.
@urchaidh
A dog once chased a squirrel through the main triangle of the frame of my bike on Middle Meadow Walk. Perfect timing, no contact, almost dream-like.
Was hailed by IainMcr on the Bingham poath. We had a lovely chat with man walking four dogs. Peace broke out
@ Gembo - all the more surprising given how it started.
A powered (electric?) scooter (the kind you stand up on) on Dalry Road. It wasn't very fast - I whizzed past it on the Brompton.
@fimm - all sorts of 'e-stuff of the future' items are appearing.
On Victoria St I spied one of these.

Are Unimokes the future of e-biking? Probably not... but will get some sales. High price and no dealer network, Crowdfunded. Using hub motors.
CEO from Berlin has a great name - Andi Kranki, CEO of Urban Drivestyle
@fimm: I saw a machine of a similar kind just before 6pm on the towpath just by Meggetland. I thought my eyes must have been deceiving me but now I am more confident
Nice hi Five with Neddie on way home. Been some great spots this week
@ Gembo - met the wife of the chap with 4 dogs this evening, almost exact same spot @ 9pm. I recognised that lovely looking husky-cross thing.
I stopped and we had a nice chat and she mentioned her husband (Craig) has spoken with us this morning.
its nice to be nice.
@iainmcr that is a lovely update. Nice too to think of their massive fridge freezer that was delivered by lorry along the access road, or as we call it, the cycle path
