Ah yes -
"The train is being launched by former world champion cyclist Graham ‘The Flying Scotsman’ Obree and East Coast Chairman Elaine Holt, plus invited guests representing key Scottish stakeholders."
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

@crowriver and others: another lead on the Cyrillic Raleigh.
Two council environment wardens on MTBs with dayglo jackets and nice white helmets handing out on-the-spot fines to smokers dropping their cigarette butts on the street at South Gyle.
Made my day!
White fixed/SS heading into town on the A90 path, sorry I didn't speak as I waved you by. I need all of my breath to get up that hill. You were much faster than me, and I had gears.
Foot-constables! Patrolling the cycle paths! At Pilton and Bingham!
Must've had their mountain bikes nicked...
or lent them to the cooncil wardens to get round handing out smoking tickets a bittie faster
I'd rather they used them to get around the various traffic lights and spend a bit of time at each ticketing the cars(etc) who stop on the asl and the many red light jumpers, both two and four wheeled!
Paper Bicycle & Helios Tandem spotted outside The Bicycle Works this afternoon.
I would have checked in for a test ride, but I had a trailer in tow and was on an errand. Nice to see these elegant steeds on display though!
Around 4.30pm this afternoon, while stopped in what's left of the ASL at the junction of North Bridge and High Street, heading South, a chap on a burgundy Pedersen pulled up alongside.
Rider was sporting a flat cap, as was I. He commented that my home made trailer looked a bit over-engineered, and I complimented him on his very nice bike.
Anyone on here?
Saw the Chopperdome as seen previously on QFerry road near Corbiehill today. Not the first time I've seen it around, maybe it lives in/around DMains..?
A sumptuous vehicle, even if it looks impossible to ride...
Spotted the ЯДКІЄТД 3 again, Summerhall Place-ish I think. Pretty sure the rider was wearing his grey hooded top again too.
I'd been out to Millerhill, and took the Innocent path back into town. Imagine my disappointment at not spotting any CCEers in the process, after going to all that trouble! :>
'Spotted' alanr again when I caught up with him ascending Lanark Road, so had a nice wee chat all the way to the top.
Crowriver - I stood gawping at the Paper Bicycle for a while last night after picking up some tyres.
I was briefly chatting to a very tall (lady) cyclist about how nice it was - not sure if it was anyone on here - but we agreed it was pretty unique, definitely a nice addition to laidback bikes stable.
Also saw a strangely cool looking chopper style bike at the newington end of the meadows - was with my son, so couldnt get a good look at the make etc - a very very fat rear tyre though !!
Nelly, that was me. :-)
Arellcat, in that case, very nice to have met you :-)
You would have laughed at me a couple of minutes later when my new tyres fell off the shoulder resulting in a wierd hula hooping effect - interesting going uphill on the bike....
c. 9.25am
Guy cycling with cello, Clerk St.
Guy on gocycle, Melville Drive.
Yesterday c. 17:40, Middle Meadow Walk.
Chap cycling up on BMX. No hands. Backwards. Sitting on the handlebars. Drinking a bottle of beer. Turned a 180 and went back down again...
Impressive skills!
Any one noticed the amount of electric bikes going around recently, it's making commuter racing difficult to judge.
Recumbent rider in a flat cap on the prom at Silverknowes back of seven this morning. Possibly a Laid Back logo on the rear fairing/box thing on the back.
Recumbent rider with orangish tee-shirt in Liberton proceeding in the direction of Straition (8.30am ish)
Also seen yesterday - yes I know it's not a bike but ..
Cyclist down on North Bridge this morning when I cycled down about 9am. Quite a lot of police and paramedics on the south-bound side. Bike was propped against the ambulance and presumably the cyclist was inside. Looked to me a MTB style, burgundy in colour with a luggage rack. Driver of a white Audi (I think) was talking to the police. Everyone seemed calm so hopefully a minor incident.
Ah
"North Bridge – partially blocked due to a police incident s/b."
That usually means someone is thinking about jumping onto the station roof - though it's usually n/b - or even whole bridge shut.
this morning, a recumbant, heading east along ingleston road,on the cycle path, traffic moving freely !!!!lol !
All these recumbent riders spotted this morning, and none of them was me. Never thought I'd see the day.
...and none of them was me.
Speaking of which, while riding through Tollcross this evening I spotted another one who wasn't me - this one was a new grey Streetmachine. They're all coming out of the woodwork today!
Hipster heading south on Bellevue at about 5.45. If I didn't know better I'd have said it was Kaputnik. :-P
"none of them was me"
Invisible then.
If I didn't know better I'd have said it was Kaputnik. :-P
Hipsters don't wear cycling shirts :P But in other news, yes, thebikechain have finally sorted my hipster headset. Hurrah!
