@gembo
Aye. That was the longest, most drawn out, most outstretched, fastest and most awesome high 5 on record.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

I too saw something that might have been a powered scooter with somebody on it heading out of town on the towpath earlier this week. The pilot jumped off to push it shortly after I rang my bell to say that I was about to overtake. Not sure if that was as a direct result of my ringing or just a coincidence.
I've seen a fair number of these commuting in London - clearly a 'thing' there.
The aftermath of a taxi apparently nearly having been driven into the canal at the Bridge 8 Hub. I only saw the taxi as I passed, but my colleague had spotted some level of 'emergency' action slightly earlier in the morning.
Are th rusty shopping trolleys etc still under the bridge nearer town?
Three youths cycling a bit erratically outside Haymarket. I may be being overly suspicious, but their choice of bikes seemed a bit unusual: first lad was on a woman’s frame Trek that looked too small for him, second on what looked a reasonably expensive MTB and the third on a Dahon folder.
Might be my prejudice but something didn’t seem right.
Tuesday, about 1800 hours, red(?) recumbent of some sort just over the Spey bridge, heading towards the whisky trail , I was in the artic that slowed right down for a gawk, prob slowed down lots of “ rush hour “ traffic !
@Acsimpson squinting into the sun on Glasgow Road this morning as I was battling the unpleasant headwind.
Takeaway bike flashing away parked outside the Espy on Porty Prom. Presumably the hiree was enjoying a refreshment.
Spotted Uberuce heading down the Biggar Road towards the bypass this morning. I waved but was bowled by drivists.
Yesterday.
Just the one though.
@kaputnik spotted cycling up Leith Walk by Madame IWRATS. Precise use of mixed use horror path unknown.
@hankchief, I decided against battling the headwind yesterday and went for the train. I didn't see you though which is a reminder of how hard it can be for an inattentive driver to spot us at this time of year.
I had a pleasant chat with a rider on the train who is preparing to ride http://racearoundireland.com/.
Much parking enforcement on the A701 from town to the burbs. White vans scarpering off pavements and everything. Southside Blitz?
Lunchtime at Fountainbridge end of canal, a crocodile of kids aged 9 or 10 on cycles, adult fore and aft. Presumably a school outing.
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson being doorstepped by Channel4 news wearing one of these.
Nicer looking than Lumos to my eye, even when worn by Wormwood himself.
Big John walking up The Lanark Road with four empty cardboard boxes under his chin. He was very happy to see me (I was wearing my tam o'shanter bunnet and cycling into a head wind). Big John loves a Tammy.
Aldi bargains were good.
A group of very cheery cyclists on Cultins Rd yesterday. The women had blue jackets and the men had yellow. Every single one had a big grin on their face and a perky hello as we passed. I don't know who they were but they were clearly enjoying their ride.
A slightly wobbly high-five with gembo on the towpath where there remain a series of unnecessary speed bumps which used to surround a now absent metal chicane. The cyclist behind gembo was clearly not impressed and said some rude words as we passed one another, despite my arm having been retracted. It was perhaps due to my limited wobble, either that or just a complete killjoy attitude.
@jdanielp
Never caught his words, but not everyone can have friends.
Spotted @morningsider in an underground car park...
Two people on Edinburgh bike hire scheme bikes riding into Musselburgh yesterday. Looked like they were having a blast.
Someone in a white top riding with someone in a red top might have waved at me in Inverleith Park, though they may also have been gesturing whilst speaking.
A slightly heavy, but otherwise uneventful, high five with gembo on the towpath this morning.
Whilst blowing out my suffering badly climbing up some switchbacks near the Errochty Dam yesterday a very skinny dude on a time trial back raced passed me at speed I would have thought impossible.
I did not laugh when I passed him half a mile later as his Di2 had gone wonky on him and stuck him in his highest gear. It was a temptation however.
Just as well as a few minutes later he raced past me again and crossed the moors towards drumochter faster than I probably would have in a car!
If he wasn't a real racer he probably should be. I was mightily impressed (by him, not his Di2)
@jdanielp, just making up foer the near miss yesterday, which byou felt was a little light?
I was pelting along to get to front of queue at Kings Theatre, which I achieved due to strong tailwind. THen inexplicably my cahin fell off. The embarasssment of it all.
there is a kayak on the WoL path at juniper green, up from the illegal gated community but near the strange knackers yard the illegal gated community owner owns. Where shipping containers come to die.
Two folding motorbikes east of Juni green. Their drivers in masks. very Restless Natives
That Kayak has been there for a while now. It does have a big ole in it.
