On the way to/from offspring's football training, mutual spot of jdanielp on the towpath by Craiglockhart station, followed by Arellcat dans torpedo at Meggetland, which occasioned much filial comment (I think she wants one now). Whereafter I was spotted by gembo. One day I will spot him first but today was not that day.

As I cycled onto the Slateford Aqueduct on the way home last night I was met with the sight of a bicycle with a wide trailer in two pointed in my direction. I briefly considered backing out although there was someone right behind me. Somebody else was carrying their substantial looking bike around the outside of the trailer, with the assistance of the trailer pulling cyclist, so I edged forward and prepared to do the same. When it came to it, there was just enough space to shuffle along with the bike on the edge of the path and me between it and the trailer so it was ok and I didn't need any help. As I caught up with the cyclists ahead, I realised it was none other than Greenroofer on his Elephant Bike and commented to him on our (but mostly his) terrifying predicament as I passed him soon after the aqueduct. I dread to think what may happen if the canal pusher inner encountered a trailer like this coming towards them on the aqueduct.

Shortly after that, piosad spotted me and I returned his greeting. It wasn't really a mutual spot though since I was somewhat blinkered by the hood of my jacket that I had pre-emptively worn, assuming that it would rain at some point. It didn't and I ended up overheating a bit.

This morning I managed a relaxed high five with gembo at Harrison Park. I was slightly swift to withdraw my arm at the point of impact after a slightly painful one last week. He told me that I would shortly spot Big John and indeed I did, as mentioned in 'severe weather'.

Gembo high-fived at me on Tuesday on NMW. Not having been raised to practise them, I wibbled slightly after the impact. I can kick dogsticks and fallen branches and things off cycle paths without being similarly affected.

@jdanielp apparently it was trailer-towers first attempt at the route. Isn't it a depressing commentary on the state of cycling facilities in the area that she even considered taking a trailer that way. I do hope she carries on: I for one don't mind manoeuvring a bike past her. The alternative is that she stops or chooses a more dangerous route.

@Greenroofer indeed. Luckily she appears to travel in the same direction as the canal pusher inner at the same time so hopefully it is unlikely that they meet one another...

Yesterday evening I was browsing the interweb reading about bikes. From the road.cc article on how to ride a long way (in summary: take it easy!) I surfed my way to The Adventure Capitalist blog where I read about his adventures on LEL with Jasmijn Muller, and then to a gallery of pictures of LEL 2017 'hard riders'.

There I stumbled across a picture of a hirsute @Hankchief, which was a bit weird for a Friday evening.

Spotted chap I know from RBS called Hamish, not looking anything like himself and then potentially hankchief in KOM jersey? And some hairy beardy people including guy looking like Sean that ran round Uk and/or Forrest Gump in long hair phase, but hankchief looking no more hirsute than you might expect? If I have that right but then I though den cleuch was green cleuch

“gallery of pictures of LEL 2017 'hard riders'”

That’s quite a bizarre set of pictures.

You wouldn’t really wouldn’t want to meet most of them on a dark night!!

I really don't know why I selected that Polka dot jersey as my last clean one. It's nice an' all but nothing special and frustratingly didn't have a full length zip (and had the pockets stuffed full) so when we arrived at the penultimate stop soaked to bone and mildly hyperthermic it was a real pain to strip it off to attempt to get dry/warm.

It was even worse to try to get it back on 90mins later.

    Top =cold and wet
Me (before it went on) = dry and warm but completely spaced out after a 'power nap'.

@Greenroofer: thank you for your clarification ;-)

Roibeard sheparding a junior on George IV Bridge yesterday whilst riding a bullet.

Four teenagers cycling along the canal. What's spot worthy about that... They were on the wet side!

This type of Ebikes are very popular on Procida. Fat tyres would seem a good idea.

Kirknewton railway path on the back road back to Balerno has sprouted some huge standing stones of the Callanish type. quite a lot of them and really quite big. Callanish comes to Kirknewton.

Someone riding a (full-sized, not Helios) tandem with no stoker gave me a wave on the Dalry Road this morning. Apologies, I didn't recognise you! (They could of couse have been waving at someone else...)

Mildly abusive shouts about cyclists from a parked car turned out to be a disguised @Iain McR about to be as late as I am for work today.

@unhurt - you were one of the wave of cyclists at 'the narrows'? We were just coming back in after 50 miles round by Pencaitland and Haddington.
