Pedestrian within millimetres of being wiped out by a cyclist on Hanover Street. Three cyclists came round the roundabout with George Street together. She let the first two go past and then stepped out (on a red man) into the road infront of the third. He just managed to squeeze behind her.

    Look out. It's tourist season!

Black (or possibly dark grey) recumbent setting off after 5pm this afternoon from East Preston Street. I was towing my son on a tagalong, we stopped to say hello and check out the bike. Followed him around the corner to Commonwealth Pool junction. Anyone on here?

It's also leching/gawping season. Didn't have many problems with peds on the way home but was delayed at two different junctions by two different middle-aged blokes perving at lightly-dressed women on the pavement and not noticing that the lights had changed.

Crow, that was probably the same bike and rider I'd chatted to about one minute earlier. I turned left and took off along Clerk St while he went up Bernard Terrace I think.

Oh, and had several Tourist Season encounters while riding along Melville Drive. These pedestrians, think they own the pavement, always going through red mans.

Several polis officers leaving St Leonards polis station car park on polis bikes over the past couple of days. (My windows overlook it, I don't just stand around watching the detectives).

    I saw the mega-cruiser bike down at Silverknowes. Had to see it to believe it! Dark red lowrider thing, about 8 - 10 feet long. ornamentally over-spoked wheels with gold spokes. Brown leather sprung Brooksish saddle. Very much like this;

    (click for article)

Then saw a Helios tandem with Dad in a yellow bunnet at the helm and child stoking. Red Ortlieb panniers. Mum (I presume) on a regular bike alongside.

"Hipsters don't wear cycling shirts :P But in other news, yes, thebikechain have finally sorted my hipster headset. Hurrah! "

Yeah it was the headset that outhipstered the shirt. ;-) Bike looks good though.

Damn straight! That's a CUSTOM headset...

...by which I mean it's the bits from 2 different headsets, held together with beer tin and bikechain magic :)

Bickerton on Clerk St thursday 5pm. I've never actually seen one in action on a road. Rare folding bike that featured flexy handle bars

Was going up Leith ST around 7 that night and came alongside the monster Edinburgh based motortrike tour.

I chatted with driver and his two passengers saying that if they like the trike experience then I could help.

@Laidback They have had a Bickerton hanging from the wall/ceiling in the Bike Station the past few weeks. Maybe someone was taking it for a spin?

I keep forgetting about this but is this it?

@Min - exactly that one and same chap riding!

Yes.. that's it. RTC and me met the guy outside Backbeat records.

I tried riding it and found it needed far more input than a recliner. No doubt you get used to it but it's not gong on the St Andrews ride AFAIK.

Kind of bike art. Guy is also keen on 'firebikes' - that's when you attach fireowrks to your frame!

My new mac makes my type on this tiny BTW! HELP!

Three cyclespeedway bikes on a rack on the back of a car at Broomhouse Road about 630.

Gembo (I think) hollering at me from a bus stop about 5 minutes later at Chesser.

Spotted a guy yesterday morning on Gilmore Place heading into town. Proper fixed gear effort, no brakes from my brief glance.

It would be cruel of me to describe him as a poseur but he had one of those tiny wee narrow handle bars, only wide enough for one fist either side of the headset, like you get in Manhattan I imagine. Really tiny. Nice yellow tyres though.

I spied someone riding a blue... tricycle thing? up Broughton Street this morning, about 9.30 or so. I didn't get a proper look at it but I think it had a two-wheeled trailer of some kind at the back (not exactly a pedicab). The rider bore some resemblance to Champions League-winning football manager Pep Guardiola, or I thought so anyway (nb this is a compliment, if you are me).

Could it have been this one?

kaputters - yes me hollering tho I was wearing a rather natty pair of mirror shades that Virgin Ticketing left in our office when they shut up operations in Edinburgh and went to Manchester. That and the velocity with which you were propelling yourself makes it a good retrospective spot

I can only assume Arrelcat had forgotten her sunglasses today judging by her one-hand riding / one-hand shading along Roseneath Street about 6PM

And I'm hoping I was looking jolly stylish while doing so. :-) Afraid I can't claim a reciprocal spot though, but you can always shout hello!

The back of a recumbent with some sort of green bag, spotted from extreme distance (southbound past the Bicycle Works from MMW)...

Pannier, or seat bag, Dave? Might've been the yellow panel on the back of my bike's seat, visible for once because I wasn't using my seat bag.

@min - yes, that bike in your photo could be the same one. I didn't spot the brake lever though, but it was hurtling past me at quite a lick!

It is possible he has since removed the brake lever as the photo was taken a few weeks ago. I will have to have a look next time I see it!
