Spotted @bill's closed road today as tried to direct colleague to newbridge roundabout. We then followed the under 11 tonnes diversion and met a bus (.over 11 tonnes) and an articulated lorry (over 11 tonnes) on the nice newish Tarmac of Clifton road. The ashphalt on the wilkieston road will be ready at end of the week. Again will be lovely blacktop when it is ready

On the Marc Riley show radio 6 tonight Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks playing live. A song called Another Beautiful Bike Lane. Quite catchy.

Frenchy entering The Fountain, but not looking in the right direction to be waved at. I have now departed in any case.

On Monday, spotted, and then chatted with over stovies and sticky toffee pudding at Recyke-a-bike's Winter Fundraiser*, and later chatted away the train ride back from Stirling to Edinburgh, JuliaL the triathlete whom I first met while taking part in the SEStran Commuter Challenge a time or two ago.

    * Worldbikegirl was the main speaker. Super event.

Cycling along part of the canal today, I noticed that one of the barges that had been moored near the lift bridge for some time appeared to have sunk. Not good.

Kids singing ghetto carols + united churches' carol singers + supermarket Xmas muzac = festive sonic hellscape.

@gembo it looked that way. It was only on the third occasion passing it that I actually noticed that it was sitting low, assuming of course it didn't sink in between the second and third pass.

Cllr Ross striding to work this morning. Our commutes coincides semi-regularly but this morning we discussed the bright light to the South.

He said it was Venus but micro chief was insistent it was a shooting star :-)

It's quite...static...for a shooting star, but who am I to disagree?

    @Frenchy

You of all people should know that means the shooting star is shooting straight at you. Relative frames of reference an all that.

A cat crossing the road during the green man phase with the pedestrians outside the Art College at around 4 pm this afternoon. I walked through the car park to try to intercept it but it wasn't at all interested in attention.

@IWRATS - there is, of course, another solution: the star ccould be shooting directly away from me. Given that it's had a clear shot at me every morning for the last month at least, I can only assume it is not shooting at me.

Regardless, it's clearly incredibly tiny, so I'm not too worried.

    That was Cllr Ross's conjecture.

Microchief wasn't unduly concerned by this statement...

Spotted that Route 61 ends at Gilmerton branch of Morrison's . I went into this shop to join the vast range of humanity getting their messages therein. Some good bargains on Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum and Chambord raspberry liqueur Neither drinks for me (work colleague Xmas prezzies) and some Flavahan Organic Irish Porridge Oats. They come in a paper bag and whilst being the most expensive they were also lightest for my descent to central Edinburgh. Had them for breakfast and very tasty. Will burn the paper bag as firefighter later.

Think it now actually goes from Roslin to Hay Avenue, where it connects to the Innocent. Whether maps and signs all get this right is another matter.

Unless the route is very convoluted then no.

A person dressed in many bright colours, wearing what looked to be gold wellies and with flowers decorating their front basket in the drizzle on Porty prom. 10/10 for style. They really made me smile.

The upcoming festival of consumerism means I've been in the city centre most days this week, when usually it's a monthly event. I think I've seen at least one family using a cargo bike on every trip.

Maybe I just wasn't paying attention, but I'm sure this wasn't a daily sight when I lived in the centre 3+ years ago.

Not one, but two electric taxis this morning in town. I forgot to mention a probable spot the other week. I hope that these roll out fairly speedily.
