    a very clever redesign of the counter at The Cycle Service, creating more workspace.

    International Bar has gone for drapes in a slightly less successful redesign but still good.

    The rubber stamp shop at the top of Grove Street has closing down sale. Shame.

    Wave from CS operative heading other way along Gilmore Place - maybe on way to use their third workstand.
    Operative checked over shoulder before initiating right turn. Always a good sign.

    Five christmas trees on the Leith Links cycle path outside St Mary's. One had got through one of the chicanes. Replaced the bins and tried to mesh them together a bit.

    Spotted on the QBiC at Causewayside;

    1) Lovely bit of mum and daughters riding on the road, new bikes, fashion helmets, good roadcraft.
    2) A ten-ish year old girl emerging from Sciennes House Road on her bike, along the pavement to the pelican crossing and away on the opposite side pavement. Total infrastructure fail.
    3) Roibeard battering home after work.
    4) A THS Couriers van doing 40mph at least in the 20mph zone, possibly explaining 2) above.

    I also saw Roibeard battering along, although he was on Buccleuch St at the time.

    @ARobComp's younger doppelgänger in a tiny hatchback on Lady Road, window down and Tom Jones' It's Not Unusual pumping out. I started roaring the song and doing some moves as I passed and he joined in with a big smile. Sweet moment, shame it wasn't the actual @ARobComp.

    Person I know outwith cycling, on a recumbent heading towards Dobbie's. I waved, but had passed before I realised I knew them.

    Hello if it's someone here.

    Twern't me I'm afraid although I have been in a hatchback in the past. Not a huge Tom Jones fan but I do like that song.

    Spotted a few sea swimmers at portobello along with a few hundreds other people having a Sunday meander.

    Person on an e-bike* this morning heading into town along the bridges. They were absolutely belting along; I was doing 18 or 19mph and they were calm as you like powering away from me up South Bridge towards the High Street, and not even pedalling half the time.

    Their huge electric motor in the rear wheel and honking big battery on rear rack may have had something to do with it. I may have supposed that the motor was rated at rather more than 250W or that the 15mph speed cut-off was AWOL.

    * Well, I say 'bike'…

    Facebook reminds me that I took possession of my first 'commuter' bike (EBC Cullin Sport) ten years ago today, although I didn't start commuting on it until the spring.

    @gembo, I too have spotted said gentleman. Is he a bona fide Proclaimer or perhaps the unknown third twin?

    I spotted the Wilmington's Cow on his elephant bike cutting up to the canal last night at street where the murder happened.

    Will maybe pass him more towards meadows this morning as Tuesday's our routes cross more obviously

    My usual unnoteworthy spots of @snowy and @neddie this morning, but notable was the latter's formidable reasoning with a cyclist (who turned out to be one of my neighbours) complaining unreasonably about other cyclists with the annoyingly predictable "giving us a bad name" trope.

    But was the ‘unreasonableness’ because of ‘giving us a bad name’ or because object cyclist wasn’t doing anything ‘bad’?

    Both in this case I think, although either constitutes unreasonableness in my view. I unhelpfully cycled on as I was holding other folk up by hanging around, and missed a lot of the conversation

    @algo's neighbour had previously stopped suddenly in front of us on SMW to attempt to remonstrate with said cyclist (who wasn't really doing anything wrong, IMHO)

    as I was holding other folk up

    Later on, as I was continuing to chat to @algo's neighbour 2-abreast on MMW, a student whizzed past us and shouted "STOP WITH THE CHATTING YOU'RE IN THE WAY"

    Then at George IV Br/Royal Mile lights a young lady decided to open the rear passenger door and get out into the bike lane, just as I was filtering along it. So it was my turn to do the shouting "NOT A GOOD PLACE To GET OUT"

    Then @algo's neighbour caught up with me and proceeded to tell me how funny it was about the guy shouting about the chatting... ...just as the light turned green. I wasn't about to hold any more people (especially angry motorists) so I "booted it*" from the lights

    A very bizarre morning...

    *Motoring term, I know

    Extinction Rebellion Massive Chalk Paint graffiti on wall of bridge taking Road over canal at New Boroughmuir. West Side.

    says

    11 years left

    Covers whole wall.

    When they were done for similar in London, I believe when it came to trial they walked as there was an absence of evidence as the chALK PAINT washes away as Pedal on Parly folk can confirm.

    Guy going up Gilmerton Road last night with many photons emerging from various devices, but some of them appeared to be coherent - green beam being directed onto road in front of him?

    Then a guy on a nice bike cycling up the pavement. Forgot his lights?

    Then a cop car with sparklers on and a bike propped against the wall. Don't like seeing that.

    @iwrats - green projector light is maybe a picture of a bike - aka 'make your own bike lane'?
    Assorted photons vary between people. Guy with overbright light on helmet cycled close to me going other way - maybe because I was 'dangerously low'? - even though I have lights and he could see me.

    @hankchief - brrr... indeed.

    Our visiting Durban cyclist was out again with ERC. The fast group this morning was joined by a guy on fat bike with tri-bars somewhere in EL. Andy spoke to him as his postion was very good - even on his non-standard choice of steed. Rest of ERC ignored him as a distraction - he could keep up on level but drifted off the back on hills.
