Formerly Lilac Helmet Lady didn't miss a beat spotting me this morning despite my being on a very different bicycle (piosad managed the same last Thursday).

My gembo-spotting skills remain poor even with the help of very fetching pink attire. I did spot jdanielp later on.

A recumbent cyclist followed closely by a non-recumbent cyclist heading down The Avenue and exiting Heriot-Watt Campus just now. I can't remember having spotted such a contraption here before.

Decathlon lecky bike with hub gear but funny jockey wheel chained up at city chambers. Checked website, £1400. The one with derailleur is £1600. They shure look purty.

I spotted an Elephant Bike in Gorgie just after 8am yesterday.

In the past few weeks I see quite regularly a chap on a laid-back bike on the towpath west of Ratho. I saw him again last night in all that rain. Since I have never seen a reclined cyclist in wet conditions before and I realised that they seem to have a lot more water catchment area. I don't think I would enjoy it.

Hey.... recumbents are trending!
@jdanielp - me doing a guided ride round by Kirkliston, Ratho and HW with our roadie visitor from Durban. 'Contraption' was my Sram 12 speed Nazca Fuego with old Son hub and light.
@Bill - not me. Only format of cycling that really keeps you drier is velomobile :-)
Ordinary recumbents - your legs are above road spray and puddles and headwinds aren't a slog. You can collect water a bit but not as bad as you may think. Wet days aren't that common in east.Posted 5 years ago # -
@LaidBack aha! Apologies for use of the word 'contraption' which appears to have surprisingly negative connotations:
Contraption - a machine or device that appears strange or unnecessarily complicated, and often badly made or unsafe.

@jdanielp That's ok. Strange is a positive for LB! Others aren't so good!

The racing red MacInnes machine (I assume - big spotty bell, front basket and rear panniers?) parked up at City Chambers this morning.

Eastbound cyclist on the towpath by Harrison Park this evening who very kindly put their hand over their light as we passed each other — anyone of this parish? The light wasn’t even really blinding.

The opposite of @piosad's spot, with additional flashing, from a number of people on the canal.
Also I cycled up leith walk today and saw a few other cyclists, but in general WTF. The cycle lanes are basically useless and it ends in the 7th circle of picardy-hell.

Possible spot of LIVD on Murrayfield Ave this morning.

@ARobComp - "Also I cycled up leith walk today and saw a few other cyclists, but in general WTF. The cycle lanes are basically useless and it ends in the 7th circle of picardy-hell."
Yup. At least when Picardy place is finished it should be slightly better, but the cycle lanes all up leith walk are almost always parked up. Even the on-pavement parts often have cars or road signs / bins blocking them.

The start of Leith Walk off the Picardy Place roundabout is especially horrible at the moment - three (unmarked) lanes of stop-start car/bus/truck meatgrinder action.

Remove or destroy signs on a number of bikes abandoned in our underground car park. First time in five years. One of them is sandwiched between two other bikes that are very well locked together (one of which is lecky) so I can't see how it will be removed or indeed destroyed. Unless the council ray gun is working again.

A cyclist whistled to signal their presence under the Harrison Road bridge over the towpath then explained this was because their bell was malfunctioning. It was dark but I’m pretty sure it was Alison Johnstone the Green MSP.

ARobComp on the towpath earlier looking smart despite the rain.

The raincoat I use meant I didnt have to worry about my top half, but I had changed my trousers and smart shoes for shorts and MTB shoes as a head nod to the wind and rain.
jdanielp reverse spot not difficult. Your jacket is VERY green.

An empty can of Skol Lager on road out of Bo'ness up to Muirhouses (the Falkirk village) quite a steep road, you can say good morning to the church goers if that is your wont.
A ladybird crawling through my kitchen just there. You what? Yes, true.

Spotted by HankChief who was in full tandem + bike-carrying trailer mode.

Spotted HankChief too at holiday club drop off :)

Spotted on Monday evening; a Takeaway Bike with red and blue flashing lights on the front and no other lights... being ridden on the pavement past Haymarket; followed by another person on a non-takeaway bike.

Good to see you b8th this morning.
@LivD I was heartened to see 3 different non motorised drop offs at holiday club, including an earlier bike trailer delivery.

Yesterday early arvo I spotted a person clearing the pavement along A71 (west of Curriehill Rd) with a shovel and a wheelbarrow. Further on I saw his red bike parked up. I remember reading last year in Spokes bulletin about volunteers clearing the pavement after winter for other cyclists and their campaign to allow cyclist to use the pavement on that stretch of A71.

I imagine that'll be Peter again:
