Recumbenteer in hi viz heading townwards on gorgie road 8.35

Sounds like AlanR on ICE trike.

Spotted Husky Girl cycling up Cowgate at 10 this morning. Mountainbike on road, husky pulling with lead on pavement edge - unitil South Bridge where dog had a dump. Like a good dog owner she stopped bike and bagged up canine by-product.

Maybe too many parked cars to really use dog power to it's full?;-)

One of the world's least convenient gear levers.

The only time I have seen a gear lever there it operated a Sanyo dynamo (under BB).

I had a look about the bike. Couldn't see another lever for the front derailleur and it looked like the cable looped under the BB then ran back up to pull the derailleur across from below

I'm sure that's what's happening on the bike you saw, but I suspect that originally it was for a dynamo - bike I saw was (also) a Koga fitted as an 'expedition' bike.

Anth in a natty red cap cycling into the distance up Mountcastle Drive. Presumably pre SUV coffee man incident (see other thread)...

  7. Ooh, that's a very 'close to home' spot. Trying to think if I saw another bike aorund there but I can't say I did, the reciprocal spot is not mine!

I got stopped at a red light at Mouncastle/Dudd Rd crossroads and never caught you...

Spotted Arrelcat yesterday on Saughton Road queuing to join the roundabout on Calder Road.
As usual with these things I was in the car (I do cycle sometimes...) and I roared past at great speed and continued to drive very fast indeed, but then, by some tricksy cyclist magic by the time I got to Colinton Road/Gray's Loan she was ahead of me again.
Must have cycled through red lights/ up the pavement/ wrong way up a one way street, etc. etc.

You flatter me... Where are you going from/to? I'm about 60 seconds out of my front door getting to those lights.

I stay on Duddingston Park and cycle to Muirhouse. A great commute in that it gives endless variable routes.

Ride a Super Galaxy (in brown) and sometimes, my best bike, an Ellis Briggs Randonneur (in green).

  12. Aha, much longer commute than mine! I head from Durham Avenue to Semple Street - we're virtually neighbours! I'm going to be watching out for a Galaxy now (I'm pretty sure I've seen you before).

Arellcat, at speed southbound on Morningside Rd this evening, just about after the Dominion (well - before in my case, as I was dog-legging eastbound towards and past it ...).

Yet again I only recognised you at the last moment, RJ! What happened to your yellow forks?

I spotted AlanR yesterday on Palmerston Place, holding up the traffic taking command of the road on his trike, while I headed into town on the monstrousbike.

Oh yes. Glad you enjoyed your ride. I was put off by my earlier effort. Hopefully will be able to do a good ride tomorrow.

Assorted SmartCars at the bike racks at Infomatics building.

Think they may have had an electric model... ?

SmartCar are sponsors of the EIFF. Not sure why the Uni was involved or relevance of bike racks!

Offer was to take a test drive so maybe looking for cyclists who want to up-size?

Someone RTed a tweet from bus-livery stalwart Grant Stott which said something about test driving a Smart to win a baaPad at Bristo Square...

Possible ExcitableBoy zooming from Dalry Road down Palmerston Place this morning. At least, someone on a yellow Genesis singlespeed.

A man with what appeared to be a chainring tattoo on his leg- as in an actual tattoo of a chainring.
Another man riding a Kaff like Anth's.

A Type 23 frigate HMS Portland lurking in the outer harbour at Leith Docks. Part of Armed Forces weekend. Open day for tours tomorrow and Saturday I think. Aerobatics display by Red arrows at Leith Docks tomorrow evening. Flypast over central Edinburgh on Saturday.

Aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious in the Forth off Kirkcaldy two weeks ago. Apparently on sea trials after a refit at Rosyth.

    Aircraft carrier

Helicopter carrier now. Hence £40m spend required to remove the ability yo operate retired Harriers. To save money...

Spotted getting in a bit of free advertising for La Favorita restaurant on Leith Walk - blocking the Greenway during rush hour with 2 of their red Minis. So much fun the black VW Polo had to join in.

@kaputnik - Those La Favorita minis are there every bleedin day in the evening rush hour. I don't know how they get away with it, unless bus lane etiquette isn't enforced by the council/polis because there's no money in it? Free & easy parking for La Favorita.

They do make lovely pizzas though.
