    Gembo cycling down the Lanark Road as I was cycling up. His yells of "Fimm!!" actually awoke me from my usual doze in time for me to acknowledge them.

    neddie *again* this morning on MMW. Piosad on the towpath, although I was approaching from the Boroughmuir Ramp so I was not spotted in return. Formerly Lilac Helmet Lady too.

    Indeed I was in a slightly dozy state this morning, partly due to a successful pub visit last night. I did catch up with SRD at the King's junction.

    A man riding what I can only describe as a powered one wheeled skateboard through Green Cleugh.

    gembo towards the end of a long train of cyclists joining NMW from the Melville Drive crossing. He informed me that I had just missed some traffic chaos at the crossing as I was dealing with the traffic chaos of trying to turn left towards the crossing in the face of an onslaught of bikes.

    Someone called Korma has written his name on a slat on the council's fence at bottom of my garden. He/she has done so elsewhere. I am changing mine to Karma

    Was that @wingpig on the towpath heading west just now? Not their normal stamping ground, I believe, and we've not meet in Real Life, so it could be a wingpig-alike. I was in a grey cap and red top. The candidate for the spot had a brown cap on.
    We exchanged looks in the midst of some bike traffic.

    While writing this post, and waiting to collect micro-Greenroofer, I spotted Morningsider and their fancy new bike.

    @gembo - I think he's from Currie.

    An electric scooter passed me at quite some lick earlier just before Riverside on the Wol path. (I was poottling admittedly but I'd hate to see a load of them on the pavement.

    I was on a towpath heading west at about that time. The cap is greenish, but might have been darkened by sweat; red top and small collection of aphids in beard?

    Two smallish children in the back of the car I followed down Lothian Road earlier making increasingly funny rude faces out the back window. Highly entertaining. Though I think the guys in the car to my left thought I was just randomly laughing...

    @wingpig - can't say I noticed the aphids. Are you going to become a regular visitor to those/these parts? In that case I will prepare to greet you (rather in the same way that there is always a small part of my visual cortex keeping watch for a pink top with @gembo under it and the high-speed bright light [sometimes with trailer] that signals an oncoming @Dave)

    @Greenroofer I only rarely go that way when I have occasional business in the West or requests to get things from the shops thereof. I used to pop along the canal then loop around Cramond when I lived in Newington but that pre-dates the descent of the towpath into the clutches of the impatient.

    DaveC easy to recognise despite not having spotted him for some time. Thing is, who was the person with a child on a knee-bumping front child seat who raised an arm at me about a mile earlier on Cramond Prom?

    I don't think I've spotted DaveC since the end of the fluorescent ear warming season. Although I'm sure I would still recognise him if I did.

    Have just spotted a very meta LaidBack going from Teviot Place to MMW - riding a recumbent, pulling a trailer on which was a boxed recumbent. Positively recursive, so it was....

    @NiallA
    Great to see all these young riders out on MMW. Today is box-shift day!
    Was overtaken by guy going flat out down MMW.
    With Marathon Fest on this weekend the bottom part is pretty busy.
    Going to be more 'open/closed' streets on Sunday as route goes out to Gosford and back.

    According to the kids entries is next weekend not this one. 24th/25th May.

    @acsimpson - you're right the Marathon Fest is Sunday 26th. They got booklets out well in advance but some prep on Meadows too already.

    Here's the box-shift rig later on - one complete Helios tandem with cargo rack and another recliner frameset. CF with wide axles and arm extension allows more use.

  27. Spotted Laidback this morning by the canal, wheeling the Nazca, with the delightful little Sparkle (who I remeber as virtually a kitten!) in a carrier.

    I wish I could take my cat to work :(

    @LaidBack - Nice! Like the set up. Do you still have that monster rear cassette on the Fuego?

    A work colleague has just put two and two together, following parallel conversations on our Bicycle User Group and Twitter and realised that another colleague is an active member of Edinburgh's shadowy cycling mafia.

    Of course, if the first colleague reads this, they will realise that I am too. However they don't know who I am in Real Life, as I'm not on Twitter very loudly. Mwahahahah.

    Now I'm confused as to why being on Twitter is a requirement for real life identificaiton. Does your BUG use pseudonames? Does your work profile contain links to personal twitter profiles? what am I missing?
