DaveC again today. On the path up from the A90 to Dalmeny though so not conducive of a high 5.

    Component price increases.

Admit it's been a while since I did any commuter fettling, but i bought a new chain and tiagra cassette, which I was surprised at being asked to pay £19 for.

(I did 'spot' the price, maybe wrong thread ;) )

@Baldycyclists, That reminds me. I think spotted you on the FRB on Tuesday night. If so it's good to see you commuting again (Or good to see our paths crossing again).

@acsimpson You maybe did, I was probably purple and blowing a bit, with my head down. I'm not composed enough for reverse spots yet, it's been a hard few weeks!

@EdinburghCycleCam - nice to spot you. Didn't get a chance to report it on here. Mini-algo already deposited, it was micro-algo who was very pleased to wave hello.

Spotted Roibeard not far from there the previous evening.

Several tandems outside the Butternut Squash cafe in Portobello. Think it might have been a visually impaired group.

gembo limbering up for a high five as we approached one another on the towpath this morning, although he briefly veered alarmingly to his right while doing so which would have resulted in a far more painful impact than slappy hands. Today's high five was about right though.

I saw Lesley McInnes on her red bike at the Drum St junction yesterday evening. I was turning right in my boy racer chavmobile at the time...

Yesterday in Roseburn Park. A bastard child of a bicycle and a scooter it looked. Normal sized front wheel, wee back wheel, and a sort of scooter shelf in between, so propelled like a scooter, ie by standing and pushing with one foot. Can someone tell me the point of this vehicle.

If it's any consolation I feel the same about carbon time trial bikes.

I'm quite partial to TT bikes myself, they're basically the Lambourghini's of the cycling world: Ludicrously expensive, eye-bleedingly fast and so utterly impractical for real-world use it's actually comical.
Tri bars and aero helmets can go in room 101 though.

@fimm - yes you were Bromptoning East - was an all ability e-trike*

@Rosie - think you saw a kick-cycle (aka adult scooter). This item often sells for more than a bike with a chain and pedals so much in desire. Ditching the drive gear and saddle makes it lighter of course. Idea is that cycling is basically too easy and scootering improves fitness levels. Like recumbents they are niche but have a fad following.

    * Fell off my e-bike today. On wet greasy cobbles at George IV Bridge. Was totally winded and took a while before I was able speak to thank those that helped me up. Very bruised but lucky really.

@LaidBack, I wondered if it was an all-ability trike.
Do I confess to owning* a carbon TT bike? mcairney's description above is completely accurate.

*well strictly speaking it is Mr fimm's but he doesn't ride it any more and I do.

    @fimm

I'm actually in favour of all cycling. Even drug-fueled carbon TT cycling with coal scuttle helmets.

But I'm quite tempted to get a crashed one and put cow panniers on it.

M5 CHR could be the ultimate but illegal TT bike?
Head up rather than head down but great aero profile.

Worth learning to ride... forumer review after one year on. He owns a road bike too so can compare and contrast.

@LaidBack - thanks. An exercise device rather than a means of transport. Like power walking.

Sorry to hear of your spill.

The people that moan saying most cyclists run reds in Edinburgh need to come to New York. The amount of people running red lights is insane - I felt like the odd one out when I actually stopped!

That's a Third Wheel. Great device. My mate's pinged off on a hard descent in Glenfeshie but otherwise a great trailer alternative.

Great spot. That tandem is laden up & a half!
Third Wheel got five ***** review in Velo Vision mag about 10 years ago.
Could be a good accessory for recliner. Do they still sell them?

**Look out for Nihola e-bikes at Armadale. South Skye Bike Hire.
