Spotted: the same ExtraWheel trailer that Unhurt saw in Stromness, being towed along the Dalry Road towards Haymarket. I'm pretty certain it was the same one - the flag is distinctive and it had the same well stuffed netting.

I don't make it on here often enough so this is a bit late.

Two or three weeks ago I spotted a big diesel work boat in at the fountainbridge end of the canal heading west. I want to say that it had a raising and lowering cab (cherry picker esque) where the helmsman was sitting. Not sure if it was for dredging or what, but ever since the canal has been super oily.

    Anyone know what this was?

@Dave was it blue with a conveyor-belt style thing? I've seen a vessel like that on the canal a few times recently. I think it is mostly for clearing gunk from the surface of the water but perhaps it can handle some dredging as well.

I was held up briefly by the Leamington Lift Bridge for the first time since its refurbishment this morning but didn't see what had been underneath since it had pretty much finished lowering by the time I was approaching.

I used to see that thing quite regularly. I think it's collecting vegetation from somewhere, there will usually be a large pile of vegetable matter appear along the canal at some point.

I’ve been using the excellent superhighways in London today and it’s amused me to no end that they have zigzags at all the crossings on the cycleway. Do they have an issue with carelessly parked cycles?

Gen Whitson on rickshaw duty on George IV Bridge. Chatting with her she was pleased the Women's Tour of Scotland had taken place with proper prize money for the riders.
Forumers may remember she campaigned for fair treatment - did a great EdFoC talk about how
little the prize money is for female riders.

Impressive hi-viz gear spotted in Dumbarton today: a mid-teens girl riding on the pavement (out of the saddle quite a lot of the time) wearing a fluorescent tutu-type gauzy skirt. I would guess it was something normally worn for cheerleading or baton twirling or similar. She had it on over jeans. Anyway, the combination of the lurid fluorescent yellow and the motion of the skirt as she rode made it highly visible.

On the same journey along the A82 we passed a roadie whippet guy on the road by Loch Lomond (all shades and black Rapha) and then an Audax guy (baggier clothes, rack pack and no h**t) on the dual carriageway near the Erskine Bridge. The A82 on a summer Saturday would not be my road of choice.

Silent discos? Have we spotted and then discussed them.

Yesterday I was waiting with friends and not so micro Gembo at Soderberg MMWBranch for the arrival of Mrs Garto and not so mini Gembo

The same not so silent disco we had spotted at the mound arrived - they had reached YMCA and my friend was piqued that they kept pointing at me and singing a little flatly - Young Man,

Then at the same time another silent disco arrived - they were at Michael Jackson’s Blame It On The Boogie so there developed a little bit of a silent disco dance off. Before they went their separate ways. They drowned out the chap doing his tightrope fiddle playing.

We were just settling back down to our coffees when a third silent disco arrived. They were also at YMCA and i heckled that we had had that one already but of course they could not hear and were also oblivious to the fact they were the third silent disco in ten mins.

Soon they will have to be regulated. Or is three in ten mins a peak for silent discos.

The bit of the name silent is also of course not corrrect also the bit of the name disco would seem also to be wrong

Noisy somewhat flatly sung walking aerobics and singing group would seem more accurate.

@gembo the most concerning aspect of the 'silent disco' phenomenon is that I have been spotting them around town outwith the Festival in the last year.

Yes I am told they are year round

Their routes must of necessity take in parks and open spaces and then move on quickly.

It was quite tricky taking the direct route from the mound to MMW so it may be some thought goes into the path they take - the closed roads might help.

The ghost tours are I assume regulated they also must use the same routes as each other but possibly not the same routes as the silent discos. I know greyfriars kirkyard is hoaching with ghost tours

Was up at the bird hide above balerno today and notice the land owner has created a very long path next to beech avenue. This will nit have been cheap tho perhaps grant awarding bodies do allow paths next to paths??He has also erected a sign saying No Cars Walkers Only.

Many people on bicycles as we trundled slowly through town on the 36 bus. Many of them looked as if they were visitors to the city. Few of them seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our bus followed one who was clearly a visitor as she rode slowly up South Charlotte Street towards George Street: I can't imagine she was having fun (of any type) at that moment.
