Anybody on here going south past the Commie pool with a trailer with two kids at 17h00 last night?

Colleague of mine can't understand why anyone would expose their children to the risk of death posed by my colleague in a large 4x4.

The man who hosted the canal-to-Meadows consultation II recognised me going through Picardy Place yesterday evening.

Green Councillor Gavin Corbett in a kayak on the canal as I was cycling into town last night. I'm hoping to hear an update from him soon about the lack of action by Scottish Canals to fix the errupting towpath at Boroughmuir Plaza. They have nowremoved the burnt out car from near the 's' bend at Wester Hailes, although the path is still messy.

Frenchy - sorry I never spotted you, too busy thinking about beer.

@jdp - does he commute by kayak?

@unhurt I don't think so. It suspect that it may be rather challenging to portage from the Lochrin Basin to Edinburgh City Chambers on all but the wettest days.

Well, he could chain it up & walk.

Wonder if you could get a Brompton into / onto a kayak? I saw Lee Craigie and (I think) Jenny Graham hauled an inflatable boat into the Cairngorms by bike the other week & eventually did some paddling with bikes slung sideways across it.

Was on the bus on North Bridge yesterday morning and saw Mr Fancy driving his extremely rorty, shiny black Ford Mustang GT convertible, top down, even though it was freezing cold. The reg was interesting though, UF05 something-something-something, which was so interesting I managed to immediately forget and couldn't remember.

Amazingly I encountered Mr Fancy again, while waiting for my bus ride home ten hours later, again on North Bridge. UF0 5CAN, which disppointingly doesn't reveal much upon a cursory web search, except there is a Mustang Bullitt edition elsewhere in the UK with UFO in the registration.

My brain reliably informs me that posts about cycling will resume soon.

    @Arellcat

That gentleman came all the way up Leith Walk with me, that is to say blasted off from each set of lights last night. All the way to Old College.

UF0 5CAN was the plate as I read it. Daftie.

You must have passed me on your way then. I was in disguise in black coat, jeans and purple hair.

I'm a fan of purple hair. But did not spot. Mesmerised by the rorting automobile?

    Purple hair Cowgate yesterday

Then @Diarmid on towpath on way home

Then after i went back out then same back home about 11pm @SRD smiling and cycling her brompton through Dalry. I was sitting in the bus shelter wearing a fedora, sunglasses and my second best velvet jacket so not likely that @SRD would have spotted me. @DFiarmid did make nodding contact but was under the bridge so tricky

@unhurt Someone (Alys Fowler?) wrote a book and at least part of it involved an inflatable kayak and a Brompton, on Birmingham's canals. Unless I dreamt it.

Here is the book but the review has no mention of a Brompton. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/apr/01/hidden-nature-by-alys-fowler-review

This blog (which also includes beer) shows a Brompton does go in a kayak but not very neatly

Made way for a group of about a dozen primary school age kids on bikes being shepherded across Morrison St to Conference Square by two adults.

A lot of joggers heading west on the canal towpath between Slateford and Harrison Park at around half six ish this evening. The route was still busy with commuters and random pedestrians so it was challenging to negotiating.

Spotted Councillor Brown out on his rounds last night. He had his headphones in so didn't respond.

Rather improbably spotted a McLaren 600LT parked just outside the laundrette in south Morningside this evening. The owner has spent more on his motor than I did on my house. Scissor doors will never not be the coolest thing ever.

Then very much more probably spotted Morningsider perambulating northwards in Morningside.

@Arellcat - is there a possibility that the car you spotted was actually Morningsider's, and that they had perhaps just been nipping in to collect a service wash of their Rapha kit?

I must have a word with Jeeves about using my Sunday car to collect the washing.

@Morningsider, perhaps you would tell your butler that the sartorially questionable jeans and hoodie may be reflected in his mid-year appraisal.

I'm happy to report that I spotted Formerly Lilac Helmet Lady two days running after another lengthy absence, yesterday on the canal towpath and today at the King's Theatre Junction, which suggests either a new workplace and/or job.
