A slightly damp-gloved high-five with gembo on the towpath this morning shortly after greeting piosad.

A big welcome to the enormous puddle at the corner of Leith St/Waterloo Place. I didn't try and go through it as there's now no way of seeing where the pointy kerb is.

    Don't read this if you're not somewhere you can shed a tear;

Orange Bikes' Michael Bonney decides not to live any longer.

gembo on NMW last night - his ability to spot me in the relative dark without being dazzled by my front light was reassuring given that I had forgotten the 'blinker' that I fit to it to try to reduce the diameter of the light cone.

gembo on Gilmore Place and piosad on the towpath today.

Can anybody reassure me that the Bridge Inn at Ratho has usable cycle parking? I'm supposed to be heading straight there for a thing after work this evening.

OSM shows 15 "wall loops", which you may or may not regard as usable. Here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/2811869667

Plenty of street furniture available, though.

They have a rack just off the patio bit (Entrance behind where this mini is parked) - it's not amazing, but perfectly serviceable for a standard bike. Space for about 8-10 bikes in the racks, from memory.

Just to confirm, I've locked a (standard) bike at the Bridge Inn at Ratho. There's quite a bit of space (I went there with a group on bikes).

@Frenchy @EdinburghCycleCam @fimm thanks for the advice! Hopefully it will wait until I've cycled home before the temperature drops close to freezing...

I spotted a flat in Wester Hailes that was fully prepared for Christmas already either last night or Tuesday night.

Hmm. Unimpressed with The Bridge Inn bike parking but did my best with it. No other bikes present. Mine still present after meal. Very quiet cycle into town and then a few minutes of heavy rain as I approached Meadows.

Yes, they have oddly poor bike parking, considering. Have previously also had a bit of attitude from staff when walking through restauranty bit in cycling gear to get to the bar. Not as bike friendly as they could be?

Had business on the High Street this morning. Only spotted that a right turn off South Bridge was legal at last moment.

Rumbled down the cobbles scanning around and got a lovely smile from a lady pedaling her toddler up the way. Just one of those 'we are both engaged in trying to do the right thing' smiles of recognition.

Later on a brave lady hard on the brakes of a Babboe cargo bike with toddler in the front, bouncing over the kerb.

Wee boy cycling on the pavement of Bush Loan Road the other day thumped his chest at me. I rang my bell in return.

Boy around 10 years old on a MTB to me the other day as we passed in my local area: 'Awright G?'.

Just as well I'm a keen Sopranos fan and know what 'G' means. Should really have beaten my chest by way of reply.

Spotted Arellcat a few times now heading up Woodhall Road in Colinton as I head down towards town. Mostly spotted on the upright rather than the torpedo!

Coming home late along the Dene in the dark, slowed right down to pass a chap out walking a greyhound/lurcher type dog, and heard him say "look, it's a bike!" to the dog in the sort of tone you use to point out interesting things to toddlers. Not sure why this was so pleasing, but it was.

And the greyhound replied 'Aye, I ken. A Surly. Sweet bikes but what's with the spare spokes, I mean if you've no got a chain whip?'
