Oh, I saw the massed twinkling of their rear lights. Wondered what it was.

    Saw your wave @jdanielp

Tried to wave back, but alas too late, my waving hand was in your peripheral vision by then.

Spotted a street shaman in Spokes-branded jacket. Possessed of such power that setting off from each red light on the A701 caused it to turn amber then green in his wake.

I still reached the Hellscape at the same time as him, but less magically.

ZHP Wojtek appears to be the Edinburgh branch of the Polish Scouting Association.

They meet in Inch House wearing terrifying uniforms but appear to be rather sweet.

    What is this Sustrans event?

    Active Travel Champions nosh up

Have I missed this event? How come I didn't know about it until reading about it here?

@Arellcat - it was indeed a nosh-up. It took place this evening. Certain weel kent faces of CCE were to be seen there, some making more of a spectacle of themselves than others.

I was a bit surprised to see that you weren't on the guest list when it came out. I had assumed you were part of the Sustrans Active Travel Champions network.

Yes I thought some of the Active Travel Champions were more active on the night.

@arellcat Several of the organisations eg the NHS at the Gyle were unable to attend, shame as closest to RBS Gogarburn.

@JDanielP and i took an interesting route out of the complex which ended up at Gogarstation Road next to the underground car park exit, so worked well.

The traffic lights do not seem to be activated by bicycles.

There is a knack to the traffic lights on GSR. To get the ones over the railway to 'see' you, you must go through them on red rather than waiting obediently in the ASZ. As soon as they see you they change.

We waited for the car behind to trigger

Also at the underground car park, we just waited for the car to our left to proceed and followed it despite still having a red. The traffic was exceptionally light on the road.

Decent event and an informative talk about influencing active travel developments at RBS by Greenroofer, but I have to say that the food was rather better at the Sustrans event down at the Botanics the other year.

Food not bad at all so BitBots food must have been excellent.

Spotted @hankchief in one of @Greenroofer’s photos.

    @daveycycle also in the flesh

The food at the Botanics was indeed excellent... I'd have liked last night's food more had the risotto not tasted of goats' cheese (despite it not being labelled as containing such!) and the excessive amount of aubergine in the curry.

It sounds to me like @jdanielp is not treated to Heriot Watt budget catering often enough

Or possibly too much, which is why I can't handle 'exotic' ingredients.

think the menu I was sent mentioned Goats Cheese but I also tried that dish (as well as all the other ones) and found the goats chees a little high

aubergines however, I cannot get enough of

Would have been handy if they had put it on the label next to the dish.

Had I known you loved aubergines, I would have passed mine over to you.

I hadn't heard of it until it was mentioned here and I went looking on Sustrans' website. I would've come along. I could have invited a couple of ATC colleagues as well.

    Quite partial to aubergines.

I am very unpartial indeed to goat's cheese, and like @jdanielp, was extremely underwhelmed to find the risotto was heavy with it.

I was writing up the event for work today, and it was striking (as someone mentioned above) that, as far as I recall, RBS was the only private sector organisation there. Every other organisation was either public-sector or third-sector. That's kind of disappointing.

@Greenroofer: LBG are holding a series of sustainable commuting workshops across its sites; I’m attending the first one in Edinburgh at the end of the month (thanks to @Ribena for the invite). Hopefully yesterday’s announcement means they will be taking it seriously.

@Greenroofer, I don't recall my organisation receiving an invite. But then again it doesn't have a bug and I'm currently the only one who cycles.

We have just expanded into a new office with showers though so things may be about to change.

Young cyclist losing it tonight and chucking their bike away. They had been tooted by a white van driver at the Eyre Place narrows. This was I feel the last straw form them. We commiserated (we were at Banana Row rehearsal studios). They picked their bike back up and were ok but frustrated.

I cleaned my Vanmoof and people have started noticing it again. Seems to be a direct correlation between the amount of mud on the bike and the number of glances I get.

Also parked Moofie up with it's little top-bar seat for my daughter alongside Algo's multi-child-carrying equipped steed on George Street.

Nice to have the bikes in full view of George Street shoppers showing them as the wonderful tools that they are.
