Morningside Waitrose racks usually stowed out. When I stopped off last week, five other cyclists were locking/unlocking at the same time. I doubt there is a supermarket in Scotland where more customers arrive by bike.

I'm just back from Morningside Waitrose racks. Somebody leaving as I arrived, somebody arriving as I was leaving. Think there were 3 racks not being used.....

@Morningsider - and pay so much for so little. But Arne is always friendly and chatty if you don't mind taking 30 mins to get served.

A new Hellscape in prospect?

They've taken away all the traffic islands on North Bridge too. Resurfacing imminent?

Arne abides, man, Arne abides. I like to go to Waitrose twice a year for a giggle and the genuine pleasure of having him enquire after my well-being.

Not empty last night. Space for cargo bikes to park longer term further on. Assuming that one day two large cargo bikes may turn up at once (!)

Arne, has a great story if you meet him socially. He says everyone says to him - I think we have met before you look familiar, are you a friend of the morningside Joneses etc. No says Arne, ah must be the Greenbank Smiths then? Nope says Arne. He likes to let them dangle then he enquiries I wonder, do you ever shop in Waitrose?

Spotted snowy yesterday but surprised him by being on brompton
Use it to avoid hassle on Stirling train
Alas did not avoid hassle on Stirling train. Arrived at Edinburgh Park, both ticket machines occupied by chaps trying to buy train tix to airport. I politely informed them that the tram would take them to the airport. They were grateful.
This left me little time so i lifted brommie over the barrier.
Tannoy voice - Can we help you
Gembo speaking to no one but tech must be good - Err sorry the gate isn’t working
Tannoy Voice Person opens the gate - I go through -Tannoy Voice - can we see your ticket?
Gembo Voice looks round sees one of the chaps had a ticket left in the machine - I pick it up and show it to Tannoy Voice - he is happyOn train buy return to Stirling - hugely foggy in Stirling - conduct business return to edinburgh, ticket rejected at Waverley - Told by scotrail employee I should have alighted at edinburgh park. I say but I bought a return from edinburgh to Stirling. He says where is the other bit of the ticket, I say what other bit? He eventually becomes bored and lets me through. What larks

Draughted an XYZ cargo trike up the Bridges. Young lady drummer at the helm had built it from the flat pack that was delivered. Cool looking machine. I initially thought it was a homebrew but closer inspection revealed that the boxy architecture was precision engineered.

Spotted a guy running across Nicolson Street with three fat red roses and a big greetings card.
Love is in the air, in the whisper of the tree. Love is in the air, in the thunder of the sea.

SRD on NMW this morning, but I realised too late to effectively communicate.

If you replace the 'SRD' with SRD's real name that becomes a poem.

Also madame IWRATS wound up getting a work briefing from @SRD in London this week which neither was expecting to happen.

Spotted on the bumper of a red estate car; on the left a Christian fish symbol, on the right 'Death Valley'.

kids permitted early entry into the school this morning so I was on my way earlier than usual to be rewarded with a high-five and cheery wingpig encounter...

Shared a grimace with @CC.CC on Maybury Road this morning. I hope the wind direction was kinder to him than it was me...

Jogger running with wire haired terrier chasing all bikes in high wind on meadows path. My Zen slipped into CONTROL YOUR DOG IF NOT ON LEASH
Then bin lorry parked across drop kerb to get to the rare instance of segregated path in Edinburgh
But who cares because earlier on towpath at Craiglockhart I SAW THE OTTER HAVING A LAUGH IN THE CANAL. Otters love waters

@gembo
Great joy. I have never seen an otter that wasn't laughing at me.

Yes, not a great day for being on a Dutch bike. Although, on the plus side, the tailwind was so strong this morning that I may actually have arrived at work before I left the house.

No otters in the canal between Slateford Aqueduct and town this afternoon but the canal pusher inner cycled past, and bill jogged past, greeting me in the process.
