Also, towpath cyclists need to watch out (especially after dark) just west of the pedestrian bridge to Colinton Dell since there is part of a tree dangling very low over the path there. It is possible to squeeze around it on the watery side...

Spotted, and had a nice chat with, Uberuce on Friday evening. Turns out we live a few minutes' walk from each other, and yet we seem to bump into each other at same bus stop in town each time.

Just self-spotted myself, a couple of friends and a gaggle of our offspring on Google Streetview, caught using one of Edinburgh's shortest* sections of segregated cycleway.

acted as a post for IainMcr to lean on as we waited for lights to change. Had been tailing him along George St.

He had been thinking about me. Though turns out was a total stranger he said Hello Gembo to

I shouted '@gembo!' at a stranger on Saturday. Same stature and lush barnett. Was not you, drink taken, no fuss.

I'm going to keep an eye out for this chap and his Gemboian hair / Rapha / socks combo.

Now pondering a CCE fancy dress party. Everyone would attend costumed as another poster. You wouldn't have to have met them - conceptual costumes would be encouraged.

E.G. @EdCycleCam: shorts & T-shirt (regardless of weather), a bottle of cider, a carapace built from parts from several different dented post-collision bikes, and a pet slug on a lead.

IainMcR was present when I shouted at the doppelgëmbo.

I don't own Rapha socks? But maybe @unhurt you mean I tuck my breeks into my socks then top off the outfit with a little Rapha Gilet??

@IWRATS did @IainMcr join you in shouting at this lookalikee?

I don't think so, but drink had been taken.

Spotted on the NEPN: 'No strobing' signs that would be totally invisible in the dark.

    Active travel budget well spent.

Also the image on the sign suggested a strobing frequency of around 3GHz.

Someone parkourishly jumping from bit of roof to bit of roof of the James Clark Maxwell-Building building. Alerted security before he experienced a mishap.

You must have been there around the same time as me. They were just jumping about on the ledges and steps beside the building when I was there though.

Several kids bikes locked up there too, and I think there were two families who appeared to be teaching kids to ride bikes on Max Born Crescent.

Some kids' bikes would have been there for Maths Circle. There was a small parkour troupe on the railings by the John Muir building when we emerged, not including the one who had been on the roof.

Spotted on the corner of North Bridge and Princes Street: a guy wearing a top hat and jacket entirely covered in mirror tiles peeling and eating a banana.

I visually spotted a gritter this evening, but nasally detected a definite waft of the smell of Copydex as it went past.

    Salty Copydex?

It was distinctly different from the smell of silicone sealant and related products, which might conceivably have a valid application somewhere on a gritting vehicle. Maybe there's an anti-caking agent which uses the same perfume compounds.

Ah, salt is no longer salt but urea. Oddly. That's the smell. Urea is odourless but it hydrolyses.

Can't be long before some dingbat hipster café hears about that and does the same with table salt to add extra pungency to their hand-hewn thrice-fried potato wedges.

I just spotted that the Earth is flat and does not move.

Do not come at me with geography or physics.

A guy on Hope Park Terrace cycling what looked like a small white 1960s motorbike with the engine removed.

Somewhere between "determined", "focused" and "grimacing" when you passed me. Which are the appropriate facial expressions for cycling on Drum Street, I think.

I think I might know who that is - there's a green one parked up outside the Earl -

    something like this:

    or this

I think they are daft, but maybe I'm missing something...

A drone hovering over the canal at Boroughmuir Plaza just now. As I approached, I noticed someone on a Just Eat Bike with a remote control. After an aborted attempt to pull away during which the drone stayed in position, they eventually managed to set off slowly with the drone following at a distance. I didn't hang around to see how it went.
