Quite possibly. Rider was wearing sandals, which may be a more recognisable trait?

@Frenchy - aye, that's him!

Silver coloured bike, perchance? Beard and sandals? :)
Posted 4 years ago # -
Can't recall the colour of the bike - would have guessed yellow if I had to, but that could be the bags playing tricks with me.
Beard sounds right.

A yellow bike with yellow seat bag is also available.

Spot one.
Possé of 3 guys on Just Eat bikes being led by young guy on old school MTB.
Head onto the Morrison Link through red light which changes to green. Then weave onto wrong side. Little traffic / wide road and cars go by them head to head. Then onto pavement at Torphicen St past Police Scotland avoiding Malone's Covid Hazard bar on other side and head east.Spot two
Family group with Christiania trike and two children on board using the bus lane up Lothian Road. Probably about same risk as guys in spot one.Posted 4 years ago # -
Might well have been me -old bearded codger besandaled on yellow P38 recumbent with matching panniers en route to Aberdeen where I arrived some 10 hours later after being lead astray around Loch Leven by google and climbing up the wrong mountain track out of Auchtermuchty

Might well have been me
There's always the chance that two bearded and besandaled folk on yellow recumbent bikes with matching panniers cycled down Gilmerton Road that specific morning, but I'm not going to put money on it!
That's some journey! Chapeau!
You went through Dundee and up the coast?
Posted 4 years ago # -
Merci
Indeed along coast path from jutecity including path through military firing range somewhere past Broughty Ferry until I lost argument with squady with weapon and thought it wise to retrace my trajectory to find the correct path
I do not think I could have done this trip on a conventional bike with la derrière impaled on that narrow instrument of torture called a saddle !Posted 4 years ago # -
@jss - Epic journey. So are you cycling back or wrestling with ScotRail?
Saddle versus seat arguments - there could be a whole thread on that! Most reclined riders use both types of bikes though. Also have the Brooks versus gel argument and narrow versus wide etc on uprights. Recliners have mesh versus shell seats.

Lift back following day with friend .Legs felt fine ,maybe could have done return trip .Quien sabe?
10 hours on a comfy cushioned chair ,or perched on a narrow butt breaker?
And no need to wear one of those ghastly padded cycling nappies!Posted 4 years ago # -
I cycled to and from work for the first time in over four months today to briefly gain access to The Lyell Building to help extract useful things that myself and colleagues failed to take home prior to lockdown. I spotted ARobComp admiring (and communicating with, using "doggie voice") a fluffy white dog by the canal barge cafe and Big John at Hailes Quarry Park on the way out of town, and then Greenroofer, with both micro and mini versions, and Big John again at Harrison Gardens on the way back again. The canal was looking quite lovely overall, if a little oppressed by pondweed in places.

I should point out that I was not on a bike. It was my first trip along the towpath since March. Pleased to see the Prince Charlie steps have been replaced.
Mrs G also works at the Lyell Centre. If we'd known you were going we might have asked you to collect some stuff for her too :-)

ARobComp wasn't on a bike either, but it was propped up nearby. Does Mrs G work for BGS or Heriot-Watt? I'm not sure what BGS may be doing, but it is now possible to request to gain brief access to HW-managed workspace.

@algo on child escort and taxi duty heading up Bruntsfield path.
Confidently heading onto road at lights and towards Church Hill.
Stayed behind as had half an Urban Arrow behind me on Helios cargo rack. Ideal air brake - gusty cycling today.Posted 4 years ago # -
Impressive with that air brake you were even capable of overtaking :-) Nice to see you and thank for the consideration.

Spotted a cop car with blue lights on Lady Road. Left hooked onto the pavement to apprehend a slightly sketchy-looking dude on a big electric scooter.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Oddly, @Iain McR was just telling me he was thinking about getting an electric scooter to use while his knee heals...
Posted 4 years ago # -
Tell him he'll get nicked. Tell him I'll grass him up. Tell him he's weak.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Surely he's already been nicked? Or was this another "slightly sketchy-looking dude"?
Posted 4 years ago # -
Tell him yourself.
Seems like a very practical solution to the temp problem I am currently faced with.
I guess I could drive my 2 litre diesel faux 4x4 round Edinburgh instead when I want to pop to the shop.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Take it INTO the shop. As with the bike?
Posted 4 years ago # -
How about you ask for help for once? We will shop for you. We will take you on our tandems. I'll be stoker, we'll get a tandem off someone nice and I'll ferry you round town.
Whaddaya say?
Posted 4 years ago # -
Faux 4x4 or scooter? The latter I fully intend to.
cant bend it sufficiently to get on a bike. However, if offer of help comes in the form of a sudan-chair, I am interested.

I'm sure MiniMcR has already been trained how to go to the pub takeaway and bring back a pint.
ETA: I accept deliveries too.

Spotted a delta trike with fairing (Kettwiesel?) at Sherriffhall roundabout heading to Dalkeith yesterday around 13:00.
Anyone here?

Just when I thought I was at my limit with TFL’s utter nonsense pandering to every cyclist in the capital, I hear the government has got it beyond wrong once again and is now looking to mess with the Highway Code so it swings in favour of those paying sod all towards the roads.
As if the extortionate congestion charge that Sadiq and his cronies knocked together to rob people just for driving around Central London wasn’t enough of a joke already. It’s clear that the government are more than happy to use fees like that to rake in what they frittered away on the furlough scheme, costing motorists and business owners a daily fortune to make up for their own catastrophic planning!

Are we sure this guy's a plumber and not a cabbie?
