He’s a large small business owner.

Or a small large business owner.

    Can’t remember.

He has his own brand of PR.

Mullins was apprenticed to a local plumber at age 15, and started his own business in 1979, operating from a basement in Pimlico.[2] He is known for his collection of plumbing-themed licence plates, used on the company's vehicles, and perhaps worth £1.5 million.[3] As of September 2018, Mullins has an estimated net worth of £70 million.[1]

Also well known in employment law circles for arguing that someone who could only take holiday when told, had to wear uniform, work set hours, had no right to reject jobs etc etc was self-employed and not a worker/employed.

They appear to have put a lot of effort into trying to convince those who want less traffic to use a rival company.

Family (adult + three kids, one on a tagalong) using the new cycle lane on Old Dalkeith Road, then using the cycleway in the middle of the roundabout.

piosad and child cycled past me on the towpath at Harrison Park this morning, presumably on the return to school run, whereas I was 'reverse-commuting' by foot back to my flat.

I think algo and child cycled past me on the short stretch of segregated cycle lane east of the Meadows the other day, but I was distracted by the young MTBer wheelieing ahead.

@jdanielp - indeed that would have been us. The guy in front was impressively controlled. Sorry not to spot you and say hello - micro-algo had run out of steam on the way back from Portobello so was on the tag-along - those few metres of segregation require concentration with that thing as it's quite narrow and it can be a bit tricky to control at low speeds, particularly if the passenger is lolling about..

West Coast Railways 37 tractor pottering around the sidings at JoppA this afternoon. Haven't seen or heard any steam locos though.

Delta trike with fairing at Sheriffhall was me of the sandals and white beard/hair
Actually its a Dutch sail trike (apparently street legal)but I didn't have the sail up on it- could be interesting tacking around Sheriffhall on a busy windy day- entertainment at least for queuing traffic

    Ooh, interesting!

I think I'd hear of the Whike before, but didn't think I'd see one...

Occasionally unusual CCE bikes have gathered, and a Whike under sail would definitely draw a crowd!

In the car heading out of Tyndrum earlier, we passed a touring cyclist with two big panniers on the back. On top of these was lashed horizontally a pool noodle with a reflective slap band on the end. An interesting approach to discouraging close passes.

a pool noodle with a reflective slap band

    yeah...

    law of unintended consequences...

chavs in their chav-mobiles might see that as a target!

Perhaps replace the slap band with a screwdriver.

A most unusual cargo bike on Gorgie Road - it had a small wheel at the back, then a large area for cargo, with the rider near the front. A bit like an 8-freight (I think that is what they are called, someone on here used to have one?) but with the cargo area behind the rider rather than in front.

Much purple heather, strong winds and a multitude of grouse this a.m. on the Red Road up to West Kip

Sheeptoucher on the descent/. Three different lorries waited for me too as flying with tailwind

“but with the cargo area behind the rider rather than in front”

Could be an 8 Freight then.

    Still got one.

Seems like I’ve had it for more than 12 years!

Looks a bit more tired now.

Ah, yes, very similar to that.
I've even seen it in the flesh (and possibly even ridden it) at that Cargo Bike PY we had years ago.

@fimm, chdot brought his 8Freight to that PY. There was also the Bike Station's red Bullit that I think Uberuce was using, plus Dave's trailer and Roibeard's Hase Pino, and maybe a Surly Big Dummy?

Oh, thank you for the photo.
I remember trying and failing to ride the Bullit - we folded up my Brompton and put it in the carrying space, for fun.

Hey, its my fixed in the background! Haven't seen that in years.

That Bullit was murder to ride I couldn't manage more than a few pedal strokes before I handed it back.

@urchaidh riding at sensible pace on Portobello prom.

I did shout his (real) name but I was disguised as someone enjoying the beach so would have been hard to spot.

I say enjoying the beach, but I was getting more annoyed by the 6 jet skiers who were showing off their stupid pastime by buzzing the beach. :(
