That Twitter thread... it's just bizarre... most of my reactions to it break rule 2...

Until I saw that tweet I assumed DB had been involved.

Thought it might be a bit of a mistake, but...

THEN, turns out had NOTHING to do with it.

    Bizarre

    Actually, sinister -

Spotted jdanielp yesterday - we were both on foot. Pretty much daily spots of Snowy and neddie - good to tip my cap to other evil operatives in the area.

Often in the morning around 8:50ish I see a beautiful helios travelling eastwards on Warrender Park Road piloted by a woman with a child seat on the back, and I presume a stoker who's just been dropped at school. The bike is beautifully adorned with festive lights - I often wonder if potentially they are someone I know digitally...

@gembo thanks for calling my name -- i wouldn't see you otherwise in that convoy. Nice jersey! Also a very nice Christmas tree and a wreath. I admired them on the way back.

    Soon after that spotted @sheeptoucher

Perhaps Balerno isn't just about roadworks

    Thanks Bill

Mrs Garto instructed me to leave the tree lights on for the passers by as normally I like to save the lecky.

The wreath was made by Mrs Tom to Mrs Garto’s strict instructions. She made us similar one last year, cut limes, lavender and thistles.well sea buckthorn.

The road works guys live in my drive

@gembo It looked like the roadworks almost spilled into your driveway. That (and the lack of the car) distracted me from noticing the festive ornaments on the way out.

@bill the car had been moved in case the diggers and thumpers returned to block Mrs Garto in.

They ma6 return as they have left an open hole, though mostly filled in and big metal plate.

I would like to report that the water pressure is better .......

Come the spring she will return to walking i imagine.

Curious group of women coming down Beech Ave. all with one or two dogs attached to their waists Mostly Cocker Spaniels

Then a bit behind them but same thing - Woman with two Huskies attached to her. They were fairly pulling her along gave her a wide berth also big horse skittish in the frost.

Gembo, why "curious"? Sounds like canicross setup.

@fimm, ‘scuse my lingo. Curious as in piqued my curiosity. I have seen a woman doing this before further out in the pentlands. Never seen any men. But this was a largish group some with one dog some with two dogs. They did go down the new footpath, most dog owners don’t. And indeed the slightly similar but more off kilter woman being pulled by two huskies who was behind them, did go down the road. I knew there was ice at the bottom so I waited until it was safe. I also waited for three Americans and their dog to crest the exponential too.

    Canicross Christmas Cruncher.

Guy cycling a road bike up the old coach road towards Fountainhall from Stow as we were out for a walk. He was happily riding on a road that was mostly ice on a pair of skinny race tyres. I was impressed - I have face planted on much less several times.

We were losing traction at top of beech avenue this morning on schwalbe land cruiser tyres. So respect to the skinny. Going down we opted for the new and rarely used footpath. Most peds and dog walkers stick to the road.

Might seem like a paradox, but in the right circumstances, thin tyres can be better than fat ones.

Helps if cars haven’t spun their wheels/skidded to create that glass like surface often found at road junctions.
