Twas sheet ice. Don’t see no tyres not slipping.

The Land Cruiser, ready for any terrain. In northern Germany, the Land Cruiser is even considered an MTB tyre. Nevertheless, it was designed to roll easily on the road.

The Land Cruiser is a mountain tyre. Also a street tyre.
It is a hybrid tyre.

For what it's worth I've found these to be brilliant skinny tyres for winter. Dare I say it but he or she who finds the limit of these is worthy of more respect than thosw who find the limit of land cruisers.

That is a very technical tyre, how long does the diamond sipped mini tread remain on the surface?
Worth considering next time I replace my conti black chillli four season Grand Prix’s. Which do have some tears in them for sure, all these high end tyres have long names and lengthy specs.
One factor in the land cruiser’s favour is that halfords is selling the 700x35 for £9.95 I don’t know why I am telling you this rather than buying some more from halfords now,

Gonna fit a Land Cruiser on the rear and a Vittoria Rubino on the front and see which one gives up first.
Gladiator - ready! Contender - ready!

No gonna put a 700x35 on the rear to match the 700x35 on the front instead of the 700x40 that is on the rear just now.....
First I am going to try to spot my biblongs with the fleece lining and no pad so will also need to spot the padded pants.

Land cruisers are good but aren't great at shedding mud in my experience. Okay in mythical dry conditions but even then some soil types seem to clog the treads, certainly made an other wise fairly dull estate track a bit more fun!

Spotted red Nihola cargo trike at Ceverinos Pizza takeaway.
Three tyres ae better than two for some icy journeys. Danes like trikes.Yesterday I got sent this picture from Heriot area. Customer's e-trike fitted with mass produced folding cover. Differential works well on slippy stuff.
Children of all ages out whatever the weather!

@steveo they did pick up a lot of snow on the red road yesterday.
Big ice warning for WoL Path and worse on Lymphoy Road which is like an ice rink.

@sirgembo
That is a very technical tyre, how long does the diamond sipped mini tread remain on the surface?These tyres have kept me upright (with care) on some snowy and icy commutes. They are tricky to get on the wheel but once on then they won't need to come off again as they're pretty bomb proof. Keep the fairies away.

Gladiator - ready! Contender - ready!This challenge requires you to be dressed like a 90s gladiator and filmed in front of a live studio audience

I look a lot like Wolf.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Nice try but that's not enough
Posted 3 years ago # -
@cocshepherd, they did look a mite tricksy. If I go for them (there is a nasty slash in the side wall of the black chilli on the rear wheel of the winter bike) I will ask Chris or Hannah to fit them at the cycle service when it reopens. Saul and his wee Yorkies left the CycleService and works for Shand now. You can see pictures of him but not the yorkies in a lot of mud with a highland cow et cetera on the Shand Homepage. They never found anyone simpatico after that then cut their hours to normal 9-5 then the Covid came.

@gembz
Depends what you want from them but in my opinion they are ace. Better call Saul

@cocoshep
More joy out of Saul’s wee yorkies now. He is 100 per scent Shand making beautiful steel bikes for 3 grand minimum tho the leveret with the belt drive is made in Taiwan (the frame) so that has 300 quid off now and is I think 1700 pounds. Which is I think quite a good deal. Gates belt drive, bar end shifters.
Cent not scent but leaving it.

@Cocoshep
Your arrest is strict. I am willing to put a Buff round my head and make the Wolf grimace and 'claws up' gesture in the street tomorrow morning in a pink fluffy dressing gown.
This is my last word. What do you say?
Posted 3 years ago # -
Pink fluffy dressing gown to go with the pink bike. Excellent negotiation @iwrats. You should consider a career in DExEU.
Posted 3 years ago # -
The list of reasons DExEU wouldn't employ me is longer than the treaty the Brits are having to sign.
But I'll take any kind remark I can get today.

Took the kids up to the top of the hill at Long Park wind farm to look at Jupiter and
Saturn with the telescope. They were good, but we saw an incredible meteor - very long burn and we could see bits breaking off it as it fell. Really cool. Here’s a photo I took while we set up before it got dark.Posted 3 years ago # -
A guy clearing ice from his drive with a propane weedkiller blowtorch thing.
Posted 3 years ago # -
@nobrakes: this forum is bad enough for provoking bike envy: do we really have to branch out into telescopes now? I’m assuming the n+1 rule applies?
Posted 3 years ago # -
@Stickman it’s a fairly cheap dobsonian scope, nothing fancy. Decent size so you get nice views, I used to be more into telescopes and had a nice computer controlled SCT at one point but one n+1 hobby is enough! Especially as my bikes are mostly recumbents which are never cheap.

Scotsman and other rags sold for £10.2 million.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Yes.
Bit odd
In these days of absurd valuations of ‘internet companies’ surely just the name/domain name “The Scotsman/Scotsman.com” is worth £10m??

Four youths heading up Craigmillar Hill with improvised sledges, including an ironing board. One youth had a beautiful domestic cat wrapped in a blanket under his arm. The cat seemed to find this arrangement to its taste.
Posted 3 years ago # -
@iwrats - seems to have bonded to join a human pack / pride! Not your average cat ;-)
Mrs LB and experienced in same place and we were amazed how it just followed young guys up the hill.
Not catknapped (we hope)!
Holyrood Park has car and people congestion today....
I took as many obscure paths (on foot) as I could.

Possible spot of wingpig, cycling south at top of Easter Road, today just after 4pm?
Posted 3 years ago # -
I caused a small Stramash at that spot of Easter Rd on 24/12/20 in the offly Cornelius by buying Madeira without realising I had skipped the queue. Very sorry.
