Bizarre indeed. Other adjectives applicable as well.

Life is getting more bizarre.
@ GEMBO
DID YOU GET PHOTOS??
Posted 3 years ago # -
Alas not, she was happy to pose for them
I was then down at the excellent florists in Juni Green and on the way back spotted her cycling down the road.
She was saying last year she braked hard on towpath to avoid child or dog and brakes never been off since. Cost her 240 pounds to fix. I then chatted to her (A Lenten promise) about how in pro cycling at the moment disc brakes are causing issues as the neutral car is only carrying rim brakes so big deals if mechanicals develop. Or whole bike swaps instead of wheels

“Cost her 240 pounds to fix“
Special councillor surcharge??
“how in pro cycling at the moment disc brakes are causing issues as the neutral car is only carrying rim brakes”
Was she riveted, or making mental note to avoid you in future?

She was engaged as it was non political. She was on her day off. Buying dug biscuits at the market rather than pressing flesh, both of them seemed very subdued. Due to my Lenten promise I was being a pussycat only asking her why she didn’t understand bollards,

@bill, fresh as a daisy after 180km?
Posted 3 years ago # -
@gembo disguised as a pedestrian on Balerno streets. Luckily he hollered my name. Yeah, it was 180km.

Been spotted twice by @harts in recent days - once when he gave me a ring of the bell as he cycled past on St John’s Road and today he hollered “Evil Cycling Lobby!” when I was walking the dog and he was out on his MTB on Corstorphine Hill.

@chdot I was recently on eBay and bought a postcard from 1904 of my house. Unfortunately on going outside I noticed it is the next building east of mine with tiny corner of my front yard wall.
Don’t suppose my neighbour will buy it. I shall probably stick it through their letterbox

Rarely see recumbents being ridden most days - apart from neighbour across from shop with Sprint trike.
But today...
1. Bacchetta or similar heading west on Melville. Was on UA rather than my recliner.2. ICE Sprint trike with two red flags heading along London Rd east.
3. Fuego semi-low or similar 5 mins later going same way. Was on foot. Didn't recognise any of riders but then that's not unusual.
Good weather attracting people out to do a little more - or a lot more in some cases!

@laidback, yes, when I was out on my lunch time cycle I spotted a lot of people out enjoying the sun and then later a person who as you say went a good bit further.

Lots of branches have been cut down on the canal tow path - trees and bushes cut back hard. Good to see. Group of workmen with a big shredding machine working their way along shredding the branches. That was lunchtime yesterday.
Posted 3 years ago # -
@fimm or anyone else. Let me know if the towpath needs a twig sweep and the location. I'm off today and Friday and could pop down with the cargo and a big broom.

@gembo - If you like old history, I assume you've already got a scan of the pages from the 1901 and 1911 censuses from Registers of Scotland.
In 1911 our newly-built house was occupied by the widow of a minister from the Highlands and her daughter (who was a typist)... and their maid (from West Lothian).

ARobComp they seemed to be being reasonably thorough - they had a blower thing as well as the shredder. I'm not likely to go back along there today.
The location was the whole section between the Water of Leith aqueduct and the Boroughmuir bridge.

I shall peruse the twitters and see if any issues but sounds like they've done well. Few years back a large section was cut down by Dave of this parish one morning in some guerrilla gardening.

@greenroofer, yes, less for this property which was built by quarry owner (one of the ones I pushed through a couple of weeks back off ravelrig) but when we lived in a tenement in thistle street. The buyer couldn’t accept that in 1780 stepping off the pavement up into the close meant you were on the First Floor. So our flat which was on the second floor was described as being on the third floor in original documents. So our solicitor did the whole history of the tenement which was regular flats until the south sea bubble burst and it became heavy with multiple occupants.
The factor showing flats got to know us quite well when we were trying to buy a house (twenty years today we moved to the curious and competitive suburb of Balerno). So he showed us t7e maid’s room in a trinity terrace you could walk through it to get to the living room. But what most excited the factor was the still working Gas Light.

POLICE LINE tape across the top and bottom of the Restalrig Road slope down to the Restalrig Path, with masked constables in attendance.

1. Out on UA going along bike lane on George IV Bridge.
Up ahead is what looks like mobility scooter with a pillion rider. Obviously not as going at 16 mph. AliBaba dot com e-thing - throttle with no pedals.2. Walking on George St. Two young women on JustEat bikes coming up Castle St on pavement. Over zebra and circling on south side George St pavement discussing routes. Woman in red spots painted cycle lane:
"Hey... there's a cycle lane here!"
Friend: "No way!"
Woman in red goes on road and heads east.
Cautious friend follows on pavement past Assembly Rooms but gives up and crosses road in front of us.
Woman in red now a distant spec at St Andrew's Square, friend gets mobile out... (!)Posted 3 years ago # -
2 new signs near Circus FArm Colzium. I imagine erected by the Gun Club. Both say Private Property and No Parking.
Looks like the President of the Gun Club might have arrived for some Shooting and couldn’t park his or her motor.?
I also spotted that the light I had put on my handlebar before heading off, was no longer on my bike. A wee Cree from Aldi.

@laidback yes will have found a good home.
Also spotted a dropped pack of those Bloks go faster cubes on the road, they are disgusting
Spotted that Pure Electric place on Friday night when chummed Mrs Garto to the EICC
Posted 3 years ago # -
Nice big fella on an Urban Arrow, stopped for a chat - I had been up West Kipo then round Clubbiedean. Strong Westerly today I opined.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Does anyone know if Mr pure electric drives the massive black range rover that is sometimes parked on the pavement in front of the shop?
Posted 3 years ago # -
C5 with blaring music going past the other day. Appeared to be just the guy, not a tour group.
Posted 3 years ago # -
@SRD the manager of the Pure Electric store (previously Cycle Republic) is cycling daft so I don't think it would be him.

@gembo - nice to see you the other day. Sorry I'd not let you know about my purchase of the UA. Should have been in the newsletter.
Not a spotted - but more a "keep your eye out".
Somewhere in Edinburgh between Colinton -> Costorphine -> Meadows -> Canal -> Colinton on Thursday I think my tool pouch dropped out my bag. Has a chain tool, allen keys, Co2 and tyre levers in it.
Not worth much but it's a nice pouch and has some sentimental value as I bought it in the Chrome Store in San Francisco a good few few years ago now. If anyone hears of something like this turning up I'd appreciate a pointer. (also it was my favourite chain tool and set of allen keys...)

@Morningsider on a burger bike heading up Leamington Walk this afternoon. I was heading in the other direction on the school run, but was distracted by a hipster pedestrian and didn't notice it was @Morningsider until too late.
