As I was heading up the Granites away from Innerleithen this afternoon, I encountered Mark Beaumont heading downhill in the slipstream of a car with the rear hatch open and a camera person in the back. He said 'hello'. He wasn't doing GCN stuff, as he was wearing a green top.

More importantly, though, at the top of the climb was parked a liveried VW camper of his, with a bike rack on the back, sponsored by Clark Commercials. Perhaps a social media influencer frequently on CCE and with (like him) considerable experience of long bike rides might like to move on from persuading us all to buy Galibier kit* and instead get themselves a camper van.

*Mistral jacket was (again) ace today, in temperatures ranging from 0C to 10C, worn with just a baselayer underneath.

@greenroofer, funnily enough I met that social influencer out on the Whang today. Knew it was them from the little bar bag that came via the social influencing.

But said social influencer also wearing Galibier mistral.

    No camper van though

@gembo - oh no! Is the bar bag an influencer thing? I was thinking of getting one, but I think one influence is enough so I may just have to stick with my top tube bag.

I shall have to consult said influencer's other social media channels to see whether their bag is the kind I was thinking of.

C5 man rumbling past with a load of bits of wood clutched in one hand. No music this time.

Fimm refuelling in Hopetoun woods. I was disguised on an ordinary bike trying to keep up with the chieflets.

HankChief, I met lots of cyclists in Hopetoun woods - I don't remember anyone passing while I was stopped! You should have said hello (though then you'd have been even further behind the chieflets, who I suspect have been doing that growing thing that small people do (someone one another forum said something about "micro<name> having reached 6 foot tall", which another poster remarked was a new meaning of the word 'micro'...))

They have definitely been doing the growing thing. Not quite 6ft yet but getting there...

Sorry for not hailing you, I was past you before my head confirmed a match with my 'people I know' database - I've got rather out of the habit of meeting people....

It was probably closer to Blackness than Hopetoun.

@wingpig - what's his playlist like? Born to be Wild' maybe or something newer by Leith Bass Team?

Some new e-bikes have popped up by the Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh. Seems to be this initiative: https://goebike.scot

No details on how to hire them/how much it costs as yet.

Indeed. Gembo spotted me first. Funnily enough I had been thinking "I wonder if I will see Gembo, I should look out for him..."

@edinburgh87 was my unclipping consultant today and I tagged along for his ride through Balerno.

@gembo was getting a delivery(?) while @edinburgh87 and I were waiting at the lights. I was wondering if and which gembo would emerge before the light turned green for us. The timing worked out well and gembo himself answered the door and we exchanged greetings.

A few kms down the road @edinburgh87 and I were saying our farewells at a Currie bus stop when @ARobComp flew by.

@gembo don't think I can recognise gembo-less Tom, so apologies for not spotting him.

mini-Greenroofer came back from rowing on the canal this morning very excited that she'd seen an orange Tern GSD with two children on the back and a rack on the front 'like ours'.

I may have mentioned on here before that we have a Tern HSD that we love very much. It has a big rack on the front.

I know two GSD owners. One has children of different sizes. One has children of similar size. On this basis, I think the GSD seen today might belong to someone of this parish.

I spotted @Bill and @edinburgh87 but hadn't clicked that you were on forum although did recognise you. Did not spot Gembo - sorry Gembo - Maybe I needed to look through your windows (still unsure which house is yours). We were coming back from a 2-up TT loop of the Tarbrax TT which was solid type 2 fun*.

*I had mixed half a jar of "mushroom pasta sauce" into my pasta, forgetting that mushroom pasta sauce would have loads of cream in it. I'm 4 months into developing a ferocious lactose intolerance and so the ride was rather fraught. We recorded a decent time nonetheless!

But my doorstep is where I receive my deliveries. In this instance some rather quaffable French Chardonnay.

It may have been my children (assuming this was Friday) but not I. They went into town along the canal to meet friends I think.

@Dave - Tern GSDs trending. Saw a grey one at Newhaven. Two children on board with dad. Mum had a Bosch powered folding bike so they could swap batteries. Neat.
