I saw the Slateford ducklings yesterday morning as I cycled into town on the towpath just east of the aqueduct and they said all the guns and grenades are out. Pretty much just shopping trolleys left for the magnet fisher folk.

They do mostly fish under bridges does seem like a peculiar hobby.

Josh Quigley level with Inchmarlo up on Deeside, day 2, he has spurned the chance yet again five times so far to go up Cairn O Mount

He is 4.5 laps (each of 80 miles) into the record and is currently ahead.

If I were aiming to cycle 320 miles a day every day for a week, my route would not involve going anywhere near Braemar.

It's actually not that bad in terms of elevation, but I'd definitely have been going parallel rather than perpendicular to the coast.

Josh has about 70 miles to go to the halfway point of the record.

He also has 3 days and 20 hours of time left.

    So he is ahead.

    Though he has to sleep

I also imagine in these extreme enduro records the second half is harder?

He is now just over the half way with 2.5 hours to spare. Will that be enough though?

IanM, howling like a demented wolf, as he cycled along Seaview yesterday evening. Told my kids to I had no idea who he was, and to keep cycling.

Abandoned after day 3 at 55 percent completed with injured knee. 1000 miles in 3 days not too bad.

Large queue tea time, Balerno polling station. Why not go later? I think they want to stand mingling in a legitimate manner.

Belated reciprocal spot of @chrisfl. Was wet right enough, on our way to the new Alpkit store for some retail therapy.

Pedalling to watch Mini Twinspark's football match yesterday I spotted 2 girls in Gilmour Road. The first was clearly on a new bike and had a happy birthday tag round her neck. Got a cheery smile from both and wave from the second one!

Delightful to see youngsters out on bikes.

@Morningsider politely dealing with @miniGreenroofer and @microGreenroofer who seem to have invited themselves to use the carriage drive of Morningsider Mansion as a vantage point for the very exciting goings-on in Morningside.

It would appear that Greenroofer Towers isn't good enough for them...

Yep. I was on foot though so mud stayed below waist height. Saw a few speckly riders sans mudguards.

Lovely lunch at the Mill cafe. I might have brought the average age down.
