Laidback passing BikeTrax (I was in disguise as a mountainbiker...)

I was in full audax lycra mode this afternoon doing totally the opposite of utility cycling, and on Greenbank Lane I was put firmly in my place by a woman in a floaty flowery dress riding an orange Tern GSD with two children on the back (at least one of whom was also in a summery dress).

As MrC explains: Es are good.

I assume he was talking about bicycles

Laidback (I presume) motoring down MMW on a low slung recumbent with a bright light. I was heading uphill and turned into GS, before our paths crossed.

@SRD - saw you scoot up path with a wave. You were on a red bike. Was heading to LB early as delivery on way.
I run the hub and light in daytime. Does get noticed (2nd hand SON Edelux - front wheel from our school run tandem).

I did a double school run this morning (11 miles ridden between 0800 and 0930 dropping off two children at the same school at different times).

Mini-Greenroofer hasn't yet mastered the art of sullen texting/Insta-ing from the back of the bike, despite my encouragement.

While on the second run, I flew past @algo outside a school [not on a bike and deep in conversation]. It was notable on that second run through the leafy bits of south Edinburgh that there were numerous children on bikes and child-carrying bikes in addition to mine. On the one round trip I saw a bakfiets at the Astley Ainslie, two fancy trailers, a Helios with a child on the back and an Urban Arrow at Morningside Junction with two children in the bucket.

Lots of bikes on the meadows too. BPS doing bikeability this week, which certainly accounted for some of them.

@Greenroofer - nice to see you - I said a very belated and muffled hello but you were long past. I subsequently bumped in urchaidh for a chat -

West cairns farm now called carn suna I noticed on the private road mate today. A sort of western saloon type wooden sign. Just needs a few bullet holes

I think Mrs Dave McCraw could have easily passed me on the Whang today if it wasn’t for the fact she was in the middle of a half iron man

    He's on a 4,500mile adventure. Bravo Sir.

@hankchief, your trailer is about that size, no need to be envious.

Just watch a group of three idiotic humanoid bi-peds allow their canine qudrapeds to knock a cyclist off his bike, in the rain, in the park in Bedford.

No words exchanged. Guy got up checked bike, exchanged an FFS glance with me and cycled off.

The idiots’ had their gas at low peep afterwards.

Probably post lockdown excitement of meeting up. Dogs and people but still dumbkopfs.

@chdot sorry, no video but a couple of photos from yesterday:

We were on our way back from the hills (by car). Quite a few cars managed to ford it. Some didn't. We ended up leaving the car in Shandon and walking home. We retrieved the car later in the evening once the water went somewhere else.

We also saw this fire boat:

Fire boat AND a cycle lane.

@chdot that cycle lane was under water about 15min earlier! but the boat was going for Chesser and the cars stuck under the railway bridge.

Said hello to @MediumDave, who was walking on the towpath this evening. I was on my way to the allotment.

For reasons linked to Mrs G being away with all the keys to all the bikes apart from my fancy bike, that's what I was using to go the allotment. @MediumDave may have therefore noticed that I was somewhat 'over-biked' for a two mile trip*, but the joy of bikes is that while some are better at some things than others, in the end any bike can be pretty much used to do anything that any other bike can do.

*for example, one doesn't need a power meter for that ride, but it's potentially useful to know one's weighted average power for the trip was 123W...

@greenroofer good point though would take a better person than me to get an Elephant Bike up the Tala Wall.
