What are the chances of that?

I ran across from the south side of the road between the queuing cars then got on my bike in the bike lane. Was conscious of another cyclist coming up and sitting behind me.

My excuse for slowness was that I was in my work clothes and heading for an eye test and not wanting to be glowing too much on arrival. As it is, I blame Kaputnik for making me cycle faster than I meant to.

I did actually make a concerted effort to catch up :*) Didn't really work.

Be careful, before the EEN reads this and contrives a story along the lines of "Cyclists just as bad as cars for 'must catch vehicle in front'-ism".

JCoutts riding a green Dawes Galaxy down Chambers Street, which suited him down to the ground and would be well worth the cash if he was to buy it (once he's sold his Dahon folder.... hey James.. ;)

Morningsider crossing Marchmont Road? Maybe? maybe not - I'm bad at faces and don't know your bike, but I did try to say hi :)

I envy the fact that your tandem doesn't flop around
like some kind of bucking bronco......

  9. Yeah, but just think of the ninja bike handling skillz the mini-recombodna will be developing!

SRD - I do go that way. I would have been on a black and grey Giant SCR2 road bike. Very sorry if I blanked you, certainly not on purpose - I had a 9am meeting and was in something of a rush.

@morningsider - you looked very focussed indeed! not to worry -- I'll wave harder next time. (visual image of semaphorer on bike)

spotted on the bridges at the crossing of chambers street.

right in front of a bus with loads of people around
Ive done it myself and felt the shame

    Poor blighter.
A moments silence/reflection then for all those who have suffered the embarrassment of a failure to unclip/uncleat in public. ('self included!)

    There, feels better, no?

Been there only yesterday - by some miracle of physics managed to stay upright, whilst the subject of my momentary distraction crossed in front of me, amused. I, in turn, pretended I had intended to stand astride the bar to extract a hankie.

In my defense, I thought she was one of the Mums from school...

Spotted this morning on Slateford Road, just before Matalan and Jewson's, he was coming out of town, I was going in, a really friendly guy on a blue upright bike, bearded, who called out "alanr!". Lovely to see you, hope you had a lovely trip (to work?), and hope to see you again. If you're coming to the PY trip at Cramond on Saturday, I'll look forward to seeing you. Meetings like that always make a ride to work even better. Thanks!

  17. Morningsider, I think, crossing Melville Drive onto Middle Meadow Walk - I was on foot, sorting out enough hands for phone, camera, coffee and bacon/black pudding roll (courtesy of Victor Hugo).

A chap in a suit in my home town, riding something very siliar to a Dahon Speed Pro TT but with a more tradisional frame, diagonal, Horizontal and small vertical. I didn't get the make but it looked very much like a shrunk 'racer' but with teeny tiny wheels.

I appear to be the least observant person in Edinburgh! Sorry Anth and a belated "hello".

In my defence - I was on a mission to scalp a rapscallion who had breezed past me while I was waiting at a previous set of lights. Got him on the incline on MMW - RLJrs just never seem to have the legs for it for some reason!

(I know such antics should be below me, but sometimes I just can't help it).

Yes might have been. Yellow and the seat was a lot higher than the handlebars, which looked uncomfortable esp as he had a bag under his left arm.

Hase Pino (or something very similar) out today: he was pedalling at the back, she was reclining in front and there were two girls riding independently in front who may well have been part of the same convoy (highly likely, given they were all wearing matching fluorescent vests). Everyone seemed to be having fun and I was very envious.

Embarrassingly, I can't remember where it was. It was mid afternoon on Saturday and I was on the top deck of a 41 at the time, heading south with my Australian relatives.

(When I say 'south', I mean to Morningside, rather than to Australia)

Ah .. that'll have been Roibeard, returning from the PY at Cramond outing which was today at 11-30 - 13-30 (or so)

@Greenroofer - Yep, that'd be us. Good job you saw us before the littlest one's spirit gave up. I think Cramond and back might have been grand, but all the circuits whilst there meant a wobbly in the last couple of miles...

A trinity of recumbents heading up the bike path toward bruntsfield earlier today.

Led by Laidback - I think - not 100% sure as I was teaching my son to ride on road for the first time.

Someone riding a very large unicycle passed through Musselburgh this morning about 9am. At least I think it was a unicycle. I was some distance away and it might have been the penny farthing rider again.

Yes, that was me returning from the PY meet at Cramond via the Roseburn Path, then Murieston Crescent. The meet was really great - lots of people tried the Pino, the Circe and the recumbent trike, the weather was fine and a good time was had by all. BTW, if anyone missed their chance to try the recumbent trike by not being at the PY meet, I'd be happy to meet up with them to give them a go.
