Can be pretty wet out there @hankchief. Harperig is now big SUP destination and indeed a wedding venue at Cairns Castle Farm is a swinging hot spot. Now the West Cairns farm has new owners.

The Chief Womble has actually sold the property (still off grid we think, lord Morton has not featured on here for a while as the previous owner charging a tenner a month rental)

Just checked a car number plate to find the vehicle was first registered with the DVLA in 2017 but first registered at all when it was made in 1926. Model T Ford in M and S car park The Gyle.

@MediumDave this evening at Myreside. I was returning from my first trip to the office for 12 months, contemplating the ascent of Craighouse Hill (the intensity of that contemplation being moderated by the fact that I was on an electric bike, which does make it easier.)

That was the fourth familiar face on the commute: I'd already waved at three towpath regulars who I'd not seen for a year.

Fimm after Gowkley moss roundabout around 3.15pm

We had gone out early into the wind with very good drivers on the Whang.

Then Biggar and brougton, coffee stop then Tweedsmuir and over Talla and nice tailwind along St Mary’s Loch. Lunch at Gordon Arms, they even opened early for us. Up mount benger to innerleithen, hoaching with cyclists, then granites home. If only Balerno was where Middleton is. But even last 25 miles was ok. The driving deteriorated and the headwinds returned but really all fine.

    Couldn’t find a better thread.

Not (quite) worth its own thread.

Belated reverse spot of @greenroofer last week riding his very shiny Tern contraption which I covet.

I thought I heard someone shouting "fimm!" at the Gowkley Moss roundabout... sorry to not be more awake. (I just went out the Moor Road and returned via Gladhouse.)

Spotted @fimm going up Lanark Rd while I was waiting at the lights from Craighlockhart Ave. Managed to catch up along Lanark Rd and we rode together to Livingston.

Once we got to A71 it turned out we couldn't really go the regular way to East Calder (resurfacing works) so in a bit of a panic I led straight up A71. Then I remembered that there is possibly a way into East Calder further up. Indeed there is a narrow pad with nettles that took us through the back of the houses and eventually into the housing estate streets.

Thanks to @fimm for that unexcepted and fun ride!

It was good to ride with you, Bill. It was a lovely morning and even the bonus comedy off-roading wasn't too bad...

Two Velorex 16/350s being towed through Biggar.

Seems like the sort of thing that some folk around here would be interested in.

Quite a lot of rime frost this am and some salt but no grit

Fimm yesterday when I was opening the garage door in my dressing gown

Which is a funny place to keep a garage door for sure.

    Oh, that was you!
I thought I heard "fimm!" so gave a cheery "Hello!" - but then when I looked back there was this man in his dressing gown and I really wasn't sure if it was you or not (I know you live in one of those houses but I'm never sure which one...)

But did @gembo have his towel with him?

Not sure if it's a spot but a lady in the East Preston Street ASL this morning asked me how my knees were. Possibly something to do with me riding a fixed but the lights changed before I had a chance to a) combobulate myself and b) reply with anything other than a witless "er, knees, yes, fine I think.."

Asking politely about knees does seem to be the kind of Goon Show-esque thing someone on here would do so if it was you, sorry!

And my knees are splendid. Honestly I think riding the fixed keeps them happier than the geared bike as there's no possibility of pushing a harder gear than you need, most of the time

    (Craighouse Hill excepted)

Chapeau to The Chief, I assume it was a bit easier on the return? Though dark.

@SRD - oh that was you? You were but a blur pedalling past...

Coincidentally a friend of mine I know outwith cycle campaigning was one of the Gang of Four who returned. They had the tailwind coming back.
