SRD was disguised as a stoker working for Laidback. Along with Arelcat (in the red torpedo) they were the only ones I managed to spot as they cycled past us by Gyle Park.

Wokingham’s mysterious cycling bear says Hi!!
Earley Panda has been spreading positivity among residents by cycling around areas including Earley, Woodley, Sonning and Reading since May last year.
Did they really keep the full costume on for the whole ride? Not even take the head off to eat or drink?

My neighbour this lunchtime when I was going for a wee scoot. With a bicycle. First time in 17 years.
As she said - entry level electric. Looked nice very integrated battery. Charged in garage rather than taking the battery out. 800 quid but she is going to trade up. Front wheel motor.
Short journey down to the campus where she works, normally she would be in her motor.
How good is that?

Panda rode very well to where the rides split and then came with the faster ride to Bathgate where he got the train. He was a very nice man but couldn't really ride in a group very well due to not being able to see, also it was soaking wet and he was dressed as a panda so cycling was rather difficult.

What's easier? Making it safe for children to cycle to school, or sending rich old men into space?

Bill on the way to Livingston this morning. Apologies for disappearing - my chain came off!
Posted 2 years ago # -
@fimm sorry to hear about the chain. I was wondering what happened to you but since we had cars behind I struggled to see. Good to see you in any case!

Spotted just now, not a person, but a Pearl Izumi stand and a (working) cargo bike in the former Badabing unit at the canal head (where Akva and Zizzi were). Anyone know if we’re getting another bike shop??

For over ten years, I've been stopping to offer help when I see a cyclist dealing with possible mechanical issues. Everybody always says "No, I'm fine, but thanks for checking!"
Today, for the first time ever, someone actually said yes - they'd pinched their spare inner tube fitting it after getting a puncture.
No problem, I always have several spare tubes in my pannier. Except, apparently, today.
In case the cyclist at Millerhill is on here, apologies again for getting your hopes up, and hope you got home fine!

On my first commute to actually do some work in nearly two years (I did commute to strike outside my work in December last year) I spotted Big John on the towpath at Meggetland so stopped for a quick catch up. Beyond the railway bridge I caught up with an elderly cyclist on a transmission-free electric bike as they were catching up with two horse riders heading out of town ahead of us. This is the first time I have seen horses on the towpath. When the riders become aware of us behind them they made an effort to move off the path where it widened following the next bridge. However, probably due to focussing on the horses rather too much, the cyclist ahead of me then had to brake abruptly as a jogger approached them in the opposite direction and nearly fell off their bike into the canal - the jogger actually managed to catch them as they fell. Once we had established that the cyclist was ok, the jogger and I departed in opposite directions, leaving the cyclist berating the horse riders who seemed quite unconcerned about the incident. There was a notable quantity of horse manure in varying states on the towpath west of the aquaduct, so it seems like they must be doing this sporadically. I hope I don't come across them again.

I was out for a run on the canal at the weekend and saw Wester Hailes well decorated with poo.
Interesting, the idea of meeting horses coming towards you on the narrowest sections with no verge on either side is quite intimidating.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Extremely! I passed a rider on an unsettled horse on a fairly wide (but with quite steep edges) section of the Pentcaitland Path a few years ago and found that scary.
I failed to notice if the riders had to duck much under the canal bridge. Whilst horses would have frequented the towpath in the past, they wouldn't have had riders on top.

@SRD - yes that’s me on Twitter! I use Ribena as a generic username in parts of the web where I don’t use my actual name (CCE of course being the shadowy home of the evil cycling lobby
