Car had just done a 25 point turn, which was quite ammusing to watch.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Various bike books in window of Shelter shop Stockbridge
Today, Botanics (open).
8 racks (four on other side of entrance too), no bikes.
(Until we got there.)
All middle class people travelling up. The west coast of England on the M6 were at Tebay today. It was mental
Intrepid cyclists. @Fimm on road tho I suspect had been on MTB in Pentlands. All sorts on WoL path a tad too icy for braking. Most slo and steady one walloped on E MTB going too fast for the conditions.
Brompton on WoL path followed by big red bucket contains child followed by Bakfiets. Slippy.
@gembo not me, I have not been mountain biking in the Pentlands recently.
Your lookalikkee smiled upon being hailed Fimm Fimm Fimm but maybe just happy to have been avoided by drivers coming through the slushy junction
Intense look of a well-travelled westbound commuter yesterday afternoon at Lochrin Basin. Spotted the black Pearson frame and then realised it was @Dave.
I was in disguise as a highly insulated pedestrian, chatting with my friend about the history of the canal.
Dave, not sure if you will remember but she built a FWD low racer around the time you had your Rapto.
Our Damon from Brookside [actor Simon O’Brien} is one the Liverpool City Region Active Travel Commissioner.
He has a great wee film cycling about the North West and as far as Leicester on his Brommie with Brooks saddle.
He even went to London [where he was murdered] and all the shopkeepers in Waltham Forest who carried the coffin down the high street are now totally pro the pedestiainisation. Coping with losing their parking. Good wee film on Cycling UK website.
He did used to run a bike shop and fab cafe in central Liverpool back in the day and has been car free 30 years. Go Damon.
For the last four years working in Livingston with the kids no longer being transported daily by bike, it was vanishingly unlikely that I'd be spotted (although possibly saw fimm once on a blue moon)
Now I'm going to an office that you can ride out almost directly onto Lochrin basin it's a frenzy of recognition! Sorry it wasn't mutual
I was at a funeral today down at Seafield Crem. Three people arrived by bicycle
Thursday morning I saw three blokes and a highway maintenance lorry on NMW. unbelievably, they were scraping away the leaf mould at the Melville drive end.
Today (3ish?) I saw them for the 4th time, they'd still not made it to MMW. but were scraping up the turf that had grown over the path.
Can't imagine how it was taking them that long? But I wonder if it was community service or something, because there were two guys doing all the work and one just standing around (all four times I saw them).

The City of Edinburgh Council has been contacted for comment.

If it's temporary pending a permanent scheme then I guess it'll be gone by this time next decade.
Regardless of the aesthetics isn't it blocking the gutter?
Apparently “It’s interim”
No, don’t know any more!

Charlotte Square is set to undergo major work to drop the pavements surrounding its central gardens with the aim of opening the Georgian Square up to pedestrians.
The final phase of improvement work is due to begin towards the end of next year - although it is likely to take a further two years - and see the pavements lowered to the levels before the current stepped kerb was introduced in the 1960s.
In the meantime, a “temporary” new addition to one of Edinburgh’s greatest architectural gems has sparked a flurry of criticism including from within the city’s architectural community, with one critic saying it “beggared belief.”
A temporary concrete and steel ramp has been described as “brutalist” and resembling “WW2 fortifications.”

A Flit folding electric bicycle outside my front door as my neighbour has bought one.
THe folding is quite Brompton like but single speed and more straightforward
Looks like battery internal
Integrated back light
Telescope folding back mudguard
Upright cycling position as not a lot of room between saddle and handlebars
I only cycled it from my house to his but was fun. Tiny wheels for the potholes of Embra. Neighbour waited a year to get it so I am guessing he got the pre-order price. Of £1995.
While waiting at the red light to turn right from Colinton Road into Myreside Road this evening, on my bright blue Tern HSD with a passenger seat on it, a bright blue Tern HSD with one of those huge tents (I think they are officially called a 'clubhouse') on the back came down from Myreside.
I realised that HSDs do look quite weird. Oh well, too late for that now.
Spotted yesterday on Nicolson Street, this super clean Raleigh RSW 16. Modern tyres instead of the original white ones but otherwise it looked almost completely original.
Clocked @LaidBack twice yesterday as we pootled round the meadows doing Cargo Bike Movement’s treasure hunt activities - once crossing toucan from Valleyfield gauntlet with empty trailer, bound for Argyle Place I reckoned. Ding-donged the dutch bell from distance but the winds were not in our favour. Latterly we were spotted by Laid Back and ding-donged in return from his cargo run along SMW nearing pavilion - by the time I tore my attention from the 4yo rocketing along I’d missed the opportunity to wave to David and accompanying huge ICE boxes. Hello!
@bakky - yes hello! Saw you were on treasure hunt with family. Also saw at least one other cargo bike out on the event.
Also was connecting new guy at BW to SW20 so he can do a short distance move house by bike. UA plus Carla trailer!
Meanwhile back at LB, Joe T had another forumer's Bakfiets in for a check over.
