Oh and I also saw a very chic mint-green Bianchi at Cramond with Brooks saddle, tape, cork bar plugs but what caught my eye were the brown wooden mudguards of the type that TBC has mentioned before.

Met Jackson Priest on an ERC run today. Very good company on a lovely run to Lauder and Stow. Great cake at the Fat Cat. We crossed paths with a large but spread out group of Cyclists including several tandem - CTC?

Very nice to meet you today Amir. Was indeed a good run today. The ERC Cautious Descenders Support Group (Membership: 2) was an excellent idea. Think that's the first time I've had people waiting for me at the BOTTOM of a hill! Liked that caff - and I have even forgiven it for playing Ebony And Ivory. Oh, hang on. No I haven't.

We've (understandably) had discussions on here about the genderist nature of 'cycle chic' and also 'what can be done to get more people cycling - especially women.

Clearly this person is making a statement - if only for herself.

Shiny new multi-geared Pashley, big basket, mostly white(!) dress, big belt, properly inflated tyres and a good/confident road position.

Pity about the lump of plastic messing up her hairdo though. :)

    "messing up her hairdo though"

    Personal choice and all that.

I'm quite sure this person has an effective way of dealing with that 'problem'.

Triple spot today (although to be fair 1 1/2 of them were semi-organised).

I spotted Kim (sans bike) taking pictures for the CycleChic blog and stopped for a quick chat. It's only when I got home that I realised I had a big smear of oil across my upper lip, like a Hitler moustache. No way am I getting on CycleChic with facepaint like that :/

Quite a few individual cyclists (5-6) this am in an area where I rarely see any on my commute. Between Dalkeith and Whitecraig area.

be-hoodied lad on a blue and black BMX going along the path at Broomhouse (I was waiting in an ASL on the road). No brakes on his bike, feet on the (wet) ground trying to slow himself down. Shot round the corner, tried to grab the toucan crossing button post to stop himself. He held on to it with his arms, but the rest of him and bike kept going. His companion on bouncy-tailed MTB (with brakes) found his newly acquired on-the-pavement status hilarious.

Must have been his first time out in a tailwind.

Min, embarking the Innocent at Duddingston Road W.

Also, extra police cars here, here and here, looking like they were waiting purposefully for something...

Ah, I wasn't sure if it was Polis or Paramedic since I was too busy spotting you to get a proper look.

    Min, again, Termit's Croft.

Bloke with baggy brown shorts on a skinny blue bike and no mudguards RLJing across Summerhall at over twenty (just before they changed, but it's the stop line side which counts) then steaming through Tollcross after they'd changed, preventing me pointedly taking a photo of him).

  17. Mr Wingpig, completely oblivious to my presence...

He was in a small peleton of about 4 and I have to say, while they faffed about in the bus lane with some dodgy driving and equally dodgy riding, he remained aloof in the main lane, and had passed a couple of the other riders by the time they were through the now-turned-green lights.

Static things on the opposite side of the road are not a threat and are accordingly accorded little noticing-power. If I'd been distracted by you I might have run into the posh car in front and caused millions of pounds' worth of damage to its silly middle-mounted exhaust.

Those other people need to start stopping at stop lines in the middle of their lane, too, or people-carrier taxis will just pull up alongside them and try and get ahead of them at the lights.

  19. Yeah, it's a bit despair-causing that one. Mind you, on the Royal Mile this morning I held the line coming up to a stationary taxi at a red light and white van man still tried to overtake, finding himeself stopped halfway into the opposing lane, and over a keep clear for a side street (which someone coming down the other way then wanted to get into).

Hey we should all get the same bikes/jackets/logos and suddenly cycling would become ulta safe

True we would need stab proof vests in certain areas and they could slow us down a little, not to mention those knobbly tyres, do they chase BMX bandits over waste ground a lot? Through the waves on Porty beach to the tune from Miami Vice?

would putting "not" POLICE avoid charges of impersonating an officer?

Apparently "Polite" was tried some years ago by a motorist in England on his car, and he was invited to remove the lettering...

Back to spotted; A rider at Polwarth about half three ish ish heading out of town with big hair on a sky blue ladies frame roadbike, denim skirt and purple(?) tights, I was the green six wheeler (and trailer) who sat back to let you over the roundabout and got an acknowledgement, ta. :)
    Anyone here? (waves again)

Hm maybe if we were to put all RLJ on here the whole threat would get bogged down and the internet would slow to a crawl.... 2 Spotted by me last night on Queen st, running through the ped crossing green men.

Ahh, thought that might be the case but didn't want to horribly offend some innocent woman :-o

Good for him then. He was making decent progress but seemed a bit confused that someone would wait for him rather than just barge past... too used to Edinburgh riding I suppose!
