Spotted on the WoL walkway this morning, Chap on an mtb/hybrid with a yellow helmet, and chap, if you're on here, it's a chinstrap not a lip-strap.

I know I'm in no position to criticise anyone's sartorial style but if you ever need that little bit of webbing strap it it's going to try to move your lips and nose to the space where your eyebrows should be, and I don't want to be the one who has to look at it while we wait for the ambulance ;-)

Just a suggestion... no offence intended!

Not sure if it's anyone on here, but I saw a female cycling yesterday evening through the Tollcross junction whilst carrying a white/yellow Giant Defy road bike over her shoulder.

    Was v. impressed at this.

Also - I think I may have seen Kaputnik cycling along Gilmore Place yesterday evening too? Thought I recognised him from the only PY meetup i've been one. It was somebody with yellow bar tape anyway :-)

I did turn onto Gilmore Place heading east. I had bumped into Steveo at Leamington Liftbridge and he was heading west.

eek! Looks like the camouflage didn't work then :-))
Was that seven fifteenish or half tenish?

If it was seven fifteenish then the beard confused me(!) and while you may have aquired the target you didn't aquire the scalp (despite my loaded panniers and non cycling apparel) ;-p

Ooh I didn't see you that second time. Think my eye wear needs a clean.

I was hiding down Hill Place packing some Palmyra falafel-noms into my panniers. The distinctive and recently-blipped-and-sighted hat helped with identification.

    Ah that's okay then!

Spotted a guy on a duck-egg Surly yesterday. Looked beautiful. I noticed the colour first, then the Surlyness.

TBC on his way up MMW (too many TLA's?).

Also spotted a Foam Centre cargo bike, also on its way up MMW.

Sorry to have missed the Daves but had a nice chat with Roibeard and Morningsider.

Had hoped to hear how tbc's tandem ride went.....

    (oops wrong thread)

More relevant to this thread - while Roibeard and I continued to pretend we didn't have to go to work, we also spotted two police on bikes. They didn't seem to know where they were going though.

    @SRD

"They didn't seem to know where they were going though."

That is frankly a scandalous and libellous suggestion...

surely not if it is an honest observation...? :-)

"surely not if it is an honest observation...? :-)"

You might think so but the libel laws are very strange.

Though after recent case(s) I suspect that some people will stop claiming that their reputations have been damaged...

Well, they came down from George Square I think, and went across past Starbucks, then apparently turned around and came back out, then north up MMW towards Forest Rd.

Thought maybe one was training the other, or maybe they were just checking things out.

    and went across past Starbucks

did they obey the Cyclists Delmonte signs at that point?

Especially given they don't apply in Scotland. England has libel and slander; Scotland has defamation... ;)

hi all, yet again, oop north today, tandem, with yellow plastic trailer, as spotted before,A9, heading south, drumochter.
Also, and this ones interesting ,about Ralia Cafe, heading north, on a tandem with a super amazing bright front light, another tandem, two bods, decked in white lycra, aero helmets and 3 BMW support cars !approx 1800hrs. They were silver, the cars, with what appeared to be "the rocket......???" on the side, couldnt read it too well, I gave em a toot and the thumbs up, but they didnt look too happy !

That was indeed "The Rocket (2)", with James Cracknell (rowist) and Jerone Walters (cyclist) trying (again) to break the LE2JOG tandem speed record. Twitter hashtag is #rocket2 if you want to follow there.

unfortunately they had to abandon their attempt with only 63 miles to go.

Looked like they were in time to do it too.

Can only imagine what a world of pain they must have been in.

"They would have to have ridden non-stop, without sleep for 850 miles, at an average speed of around 17mph, to eclipse the benchmark."

Mind-boggling. I hope they are OK.

Any idea why they are doing this in October and not June? Are the extra hours of darkness not a disadvantage or does it not make that much difference?

Maybe heat is more of a problem than darkness. Must be gutting. Hope they are okay..

Anth, leaving bicycle works this evening. I was coming up the road, thinking "....that face is familiar" but just worked it out.

I got some tubes to replace the awful specialized 'thin' (made of paper) ones I keep ripping.....

Kaputnik, heading along Gilmore Place a bit before 5pm?

Or else someone else with yellow bar tape, no helmet and distinctive coloured hair?

Funnily enough I saw a rider looking at me as I rode off and thought the same thing... D'oh!

I was in grabbing a new cassette (Hurrah! They had a selection of 10-speed Campag) after correctly diagnosing the skipping chain being down to a new chain and old cassette misinterface. New cassette on and shiny and no skipping chain. Marvellous.
