Bit late but last saturday I spotted two guys jogging on canal towpath at Linlithgow in HTC Columbia White cycling gear. One 30 secs behind other I thought a triathlon or somesuch but no other competitors visible.

@SRd is that the first misattributed spot? Kapps has hair that conforms to normal distribution colours.

@gembo I am not renowned for my ability to recognize people (especially when whizzing at good speed in opposing directions)

@recombodna Yay Polwarth still the cycling capital of Edinburgh :)

I spotted the big red Family Bike yesterday, waiting quietly by the bike racks for its owners to finish imbibing in Marchmont's Black Medicine.

Dark green geodesic-frame Moulton APB with front and rear basked mounts outside Waitrose on Morningside Road. Saddle looked a bit low for it to be one of Chdot's. Had a bell with saltire on it.

Ah, I have seen that on Marchmont Crescent. Now I know what it was.

Steveo just after Stenhouse Cross roundabout. I think like me he's in his winter facial plumage.

Primalgeek (I think?) going towards Slateford just before junction with Shandon Place. White Genesis XdF with a Carradice anyway.

Met a guy crossing south clerk street and had a bit of banter, he ended up following me as far as Duddingston while we chatted about bikes, when was the last time that happened in a car?

(p.s. I didnt want to burn him off down the innocent but he insisted, I forgot how much rain stings the eyeballs +30mph...)

Yip, that'd be me.. can't remember another cyclist about that area? Obviously I was concentrating too much on avoiding the potholes on the roundabouts whilst still trying to hold primary to notice.

everyone seems to spot me and I spot no one :(

@Laidback - I knew we should have moved the bikes a bit...

Overtaking cyclists slowly was buckets of fun - first they were passed by a back wheel at head height, then some pedals, then...

Rookie mistake discovered last night though, after setting off on the commuter - no brakes! I think you're meant to keep the brakes on with rubber bands if you're transporting a disc braked bike upside down. Several pumps of the brakes were required to bring them back up to pressure...

Maybe I should offer a breakdown service!

I've never had a problem with my Hydrolic brakes after transporting my MTB on the top of my car upside down... News to me.

Lots of cyclists coming out end of Roseburn Street onto West Coates this morning (and most mornings now) including a few who decided to get off and push on pavement to get onto the Roseburn Path.

I caught a glimpse as I passed of a red upright 2-wheel-at-the-front trike with a large cage on the front carrying a couple of doggies.

  27. Wingpig disappearing into the distance up the Royal Mile. With the aid of a red light I'd almost caught up by St Mary's Street when they went green again, then almost caught up by the Bridges for the same reason when they turned green, and Mr Pig turned left along South Bridge, while I got caught by the light very quickly turning back to red, and then continuing in an upwards fashion.

You should have shouted. I made a last-minute decision to divert and try and trundle past MMW to see if the polices were still there catching bad people. Have you tried doing Jeffrey St./Market St./Ramsay Lane yet as an alternative to just going straight up the High Street?

    Posted 13 years ago #
  29. I may hacve been obligated to try and keep up if you'd realised I was there... ;)

Not tried that alternative. I would imagine Ramsay Lane gets the lungs going!
