We were out with the family yesterday at Lochore park and I saw a chap on a huge heavy looking yellow Pashley with a masive yelloe metal basket made of tubes. Looked to weigh a ton.

It's been closer to earth recently, and something to do with a specific alignment with the sun means it's brighter than normal. All of which means it ain't bad in the city... But if you get truly rural with no light pollution...

Have you tried doing Jeffrey St./Market St./Ramsay Lane yet as an alternative to just going straight up the High Street?

I did use to do the school run in other direction on a tandem. Lawnmarket to Royal Mile school on Cannongate a lot faster than High St even though first bit was a climb. Risk / fun factor of course was also higher particularly if you got straight over Ramsay onto Market St without stopping...!

Had a good chat with a nice fella on a Tricross this am. Turns out that he follows the same cycle route as me from Dalkeith but diverts after the Big W.

Cotic (X?) cycle freewheeling down MMW before turning into George Square, this afternoon around 4pm I think (though can't be exact as did not check watch). Colour of frame was grey and a turquoisey hue. Tall chap with round glasses riding. I was sitting on granite slab outside supermarket opposite, taking a breather.

    Anyone on here?

Rugtomcat flying down Mound with Fuego + trailer heading for his work perhaps - Sunday 2pm? Was chatting on phone walking Max admiring how good the parking is on the bike lane now that route is blocked.

Will be interesting to see if there are any new forum spots -

Many anonymous riders coming in from Penicuik between 6:30 and 8:00, including one who kindly demonstrated a speedy (probably quasi-legal) short cut.

We were riding as a pair (white road bike followed closely by black mountain bike).

Spotted Ruggtomcat nearing the lower roundabout by Pollock Halls, heading for the Innocent path. I was incognito in black clothes on a black motorbike but tried to shout hello nonetheless.

Superb front light on the Fuego, too!

What on earth? Isn't that the formula that people use on here for the desirable number of bikes?

Neat idea, but don't like the graphic.

Plus should be diff typeface or weight or maybe italic.

I drove home from Lochaline (look it up) yesterday. At Balahulish we saw cycling west out of town a guy on a trike on the path/cycle path. It was blue in colour. He had no bags so I assume was staying locally and not doing any 'length of Scotland' shenanigans.

Then later on cycle towards Calender (from Stirling) and guy on a traditionl bike with a very bright head lamp (like a car headlamp).

You check the thread every day for spots with no result and then you spend a couple days offline and two come at once!

@laidback was the second of two performances and two rehearsals that day, didnt get finished till 9pm!

@Arellcat thought that was a particularly pleasant biker.

been spotting the kid with the Cyrillic folder a lot recently, a few new bamboo trailers about also.

@Arellcat - yes - I have seen you there before but today, despite me tanking it to get through before lights changed was able to wave.

At work today old Puch in orange with metal mudguards welded to frame and brooks saddle - mighty fine. Seat post height suggesting quite a tall owner. Gordon our concierge inspired to make a new sign telling the owner not to chain it to the gate.

I saw the silhouette of a recumbent towing a trailer on the path alongside Melville Drive, so I shouted at it assuming it was Ruggtomcat.

I then saw Arellcat as I headed back from the cash machine, she spotted me too but I was in my civvies so perhaps it was the bike that gave me away?

I spotted your drop handlebars first, then the shape of your glasses. Were you wearing your Adidas cycling specs with clear lenses?

no I had my normal seeing glasses on, that slide down my face when I'm cycling so need a hat to hold them on!

    Struggling?! The cheek!

Actually I was mainly thinking "it doesn't matter how bright your bike lights are, you're still effectively blind from all the m****ns driving around with their fullbeams on"

Rugtomcat (on foot) spotted me on me uptight bike.

Think he was on way to Samhuinn. Lots of hot stuff.

The eternal battle between Summer and Winter will play out on stage to the background of music, fire and acrobatics.

    Hehe ;-)

I was thinking the same thing, my little 5w is plenty bright enough to get round the canal or other very dark street but is almost completely swamped by street lights and headlights.
