Just walked up Leith Street and round past Hertz. Outside was a bie (unknown) with Leather Beige coloured Panniers. Nice.

Not that I want to steal the photographer's thunder, but strong contender in the "photographed spot of the year" category goes to this shot of a local "someone" doing "something" "they shouldn't".

Spotted an unidentified Helios tandem heading along Gilmore Place this evening. I think it went up Leamington while I was heading for Viewforth.

Also spotted a helios, and a home built long wheelbase cargo bike hacked out of an old EBC frame with mahoosive trailer parked up on chambers street. Also spotted the bike powered cinima on its way to st-andrews square on three Y-frame trailers with boxes so shiny mine looks very beaten up next to them.

  9. Completely forgot, Min crossing the Royal Mile at the Bridges this morning. I was watching the light sequence from about 8 cars back in a queue to determine whether it was safe to filter to the front (it was) as Min was an indicator of those lights having only just turned green after the pedestrian phase.

I know. Basing an opinion on the colour of lights by seeing a cyclist when everyone knows lights are entirely optional for cyclists...

Phew, good job the lights just happened to change as I approached then isn't it? ;-)

Actually I normally have a wee glance down the mile as I go by in case I spot you or Mr Pig. I slipped* up today.

    *Not literally.

Young fellow in thin t-shirt and short shorts this a.m. at Slateford. Hope he wasn't returning in opposite direction tonight. Astride A White Giant

An L&B Police "Lock it or lose it" poster on the railings at Haymarket, just need to add one of Kaputnik's light posters to keep it company now ;-)

  15. I would claim a Min spot, but in truth it was she (running) who spotted me (cycling, tunnel vision) at St Mary's Loch. Stopped for a chat (which meant I missed my 8.30 conference call which was a bit of a bonus) and heard of some impressive running plans for next year.

There was an, I'm guessing, late Kaputnik going up to western corner today. Zoomed past like he had the devil on his tail.

Tut, this Min person sounds like such a bad influence..

For second time in three days I left my keys hanging out of my locker door at work and got home to find I had another 14 miles to go back to work and then home again...

Anyway I was mad with myself but turned out it was not an unpleasant evening, still, a bit damp, but not cold and wasn't raining so "treated" myself to coming home along the canal from just the other side of the Scott Russell Aqueduct. Had it almost to myself until I got to Fountainbride. My lights (dipped for the path) picket out the reflectors of a bike with no lights, but I bit my lips and didn't comment until as I neared I hear an Ameri-Canadian accent saying "Watch your lights!". Slowing, and feeling guilty for taking light weapons on the towpath but annoyed at being ticked off by a ninja, I said "excuse me?".

"What's your lights?" said the voice again. "Ah! What's not watch" I said. So I stopped and I talked her through my setup which she was most impressed with and wondered if she could convert her halogen system to (I had to say alas no, not without buying new light). However when I mentioned that I thought she had been another light-less ninja she said "ooh, great can you look at mine, they've stopped working". At this point I noticed it was the rather cool Family Bike we've spotted around the place before and there was a well wrapped up tot watching me from the back seat.

So I thought aloud about various things that could be wrong like blown bulbs or the bottle dynamo not engaged etc. Then by the light of a Knog we found the piece of flapping wire which could be traced back to the overly tight cable tie that had caused it to fray then snap.

She said she didn't have far to go but I gave her my front Knog for her bars so at least she could be seen by others (it doesn't put out much light but is a great blinkie) and said that she could drop it off at the Bike Works who would be more than happy to inspect her lights with a view to fixing them and I could pick the light up from them at some point. Farewells and thanks were bid by the coxswean.

So the bad karma of leaving keys turned into the good karma of being able to do someone a good turn.

Quite.... you will be rewarded I'm sure.

Talking of balance, Rugtomcat was spotted preparing to ambush the public with his amazing feats of fire on the High Street last Sunday. His Carry Freedom trailer helps out... stage, store and a central part of his grand finalé which looks something (nothing?) like this.... (formatting may have gone but trust me it's pretty special when you see it for real)

    skipping back to hubshots briefly;

First official post-completion new-old bike outing. As I didn't have anywhere to put the camera, it's on the ground, hence deciding to sit to make sure I was in the frame.

Just back from a quicky Dalry - Around Arthur's Seat and back jolly.
Unsure who it was but may be someone from here? Infront of me for first section of the hill, nice bright lights, one helmet mounted and I believe white bar tape on drop bars

Managed to stay behind for a spell but the asthma and single gear got in the way of following..
Wearing a buff over my face made a difference to breathing though.

Hopefully spot some of you on tuesday.
