Returning from Sciennes Primary (talking about iPads etc.)
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

@Kaputnik can I just say you look very DEVO in that photo. In a good way :-)
Devo in concert (Austin) by snarkygurl, on Flickr
Recombo, sure that's not Robert Llewellyn doing his version of a Bill Bailey-Kraftwerk takeoff? :-)
Think I was spotted this morning by Gembo in multicoloured cycling jersey, while I was clad as usual in black fleece.
Devo - doesn't look very reflective...
Kaputnik chambers street 12ish, Me in van.
guy cycling along Morrison Street from Lothian Road
yup cycling the wrong way up the 4 lane one way street!
the a girl wobbling up Bernard Terrace, who atppeared to have only her left foot for brakes!
Set up for comfort rather than speed:
Not sure about the clip-on torch pointing vertically downwards, though...
@recombodna only the second "official" outing of those pursuit bars you traded me for the olde-schoole pedals.
those old schoole pedals did me proud in italy.
@ arellcat - yes that was me waving - top more black and white checks with little red trim - quite hideous but £30 off and visible. [I posted this spot on the wrong thread earlier, the very busy morning - much quieter today]
Out and about on the Ute today, spotted the following:
1 - What looked like a Bullitt cargo bike (with Courier livery I think), pulling out opposite 'metro' supermarket on Causewayside. I gave a friendly nod which was reciprocated. I must be an official 'cargonista' now.
2 - Wee dog on lead crossing Queensferry Road, with a blue/white LED blinker attached to harness. Very effective at making me notice!
3 - Female bike ninja wobbling along MacDonald Road. Roadworks traffic light ahead is red, single lane only, traffic starting to weave through very narrow space from other side. Ninja does not stop at light, instead indicating right, pulls over to right hand side of road against the oncoming traffic then turns off on right after 50 yards. Unbelievable!
Got my first spot this morning - Anth at the Commonwealth Pool lights.
Mutual salutes exchanged...
Robert
I was simply pleased to have recognised you on, shock horror, a normal bike!
Maybe spotted DaveC on a brown Dawes at about 7.55am, a bit before the turn off for Inverkeithing?
I zoomed past in car on way to Ferry toll. Must have gone past Ferry toll before I got on bike as I din't see him again.
Yes that will probably have been me. I'm on the GREEN Dawes this week. I turn off past the high school and train st, then thru town and down to Ferry Toll. We should meet up again for a cycle in. Cycling with someone else is always better as you can chat on the way, and it gives you something to race against - well race in a nice 'after you' sort of way. I arrived at the Bus St at 9am so thats me on 1hr 10 mins commuting again [Thumbs up]
Looked brown to me, although I am colour blind (doesn't stop me arguing with the wife over the colour of things though when I know she is most probably right.).
A possible Crowriver heading towards King's this morning around half 9 or so. I was in a mini bus and caught a glimpse of a bike with wooden rack.
Thorn tandem, pilot sans stoker, coming through Port Hamilton and onto Morrison Street in front of rhe Scottish Widows building at lunchtime.
@Mabs, not me I'm afraid. I was on foot today, mainly in Abbeyhill and Leith.
A trio of spots below, with photos. I've been saving them up.
Obscure racer by Tensor cycles. Spotted in Abbeyhill.
I didn't realise the custom frame builder did three wheelers. Must be a homebrew conversion. Spotted in Dundee.
This bike has, miraculously, been chained to a lamp post on Leith Walk for months. It wasn't clear if it was owned by someone or abandoned. Finally someone has knackered the front wheel. I'm waiting for the carcass to be picked clean of parts now.
Jacksonpriest, end of Portobello Promenade, c. 18:25. I was in amongst the crowd of lycra-clad types congregating at the bandstand for a wee spin around the back roads of East Lothian.
Ooo! Ooooo! Devo, eh? Saw them back in the day - twice, no less. Very odd gig at the Hammersmith Odeon. Odd, but compelling.
A virtual yellow jersey to anyone who knows the connection between Akron's finest and a certain kids cartoon series...?
Are you talking about the fact that Mark Mothersbaugh formed the mutato music co that does the music for Rugrats / Pee wee herman / crash bandicoot and many many other films including cloudy with a chance of meatballs and revenge of the nerds to name but a few.
One of my favourite bands of all time . In the words of Boojie Boy " we're all devo"
Got it in one, recombodna (or should I call you "Mr.DNA"? Geddit??). IIRC the Rugrats TV series simply credited the Mothersbaugh brothers by name.
Thinking of changing my user name to Jocko Homo. Or maybe Smart Patrol...
My Theme music... http://youtu.be/uHExhwQWwJs
Roibeard heading north along Dalkeith Road (to PY??) just before 8am on his hybrid.
Blue Condor (maybe Fratello?) with homemade looking rear LED coming along Seafield this morning. Anyone on here?
@amir Well spotted, yep, on my way to PY. Sorry I missed you, did I pass you without noticing?
Robert
Hand-cranked trike along the promenade at Gypsy Brae end, 3PMish.
Electric assist Giant (the bike) on MMW about 330PMish. Motor built into rear hub and battery packs nearly installed on what look like slim, rigid panniers, one on either side of rack. Looked like you could then still use rack for "normal" panniers.
@ Kaputnik, yes I saw a group of you at the end of the prom on wednesday night, but couldn't make anyone out. I was cycling very gingerly as I had a newly purchased teapot(!) in my pannier bag and was a bit worried it wouldn't survive the chournee (as Julian Cope would say).
Talked to a few of your fellow WNRWs waiting outside the swimming baths a minute earlier, as they had commented on my bar end lights as I'd crawled past, trying to avoid bumps and holes.
Slowed to have a quick chat with Arellcat yesterday evening, not sure she recognised me but was polite enough to say hello ;)
