  1. Looooovely dark red and cream Thorn in the work bike racks. Spoke to the owner yesterday - tis the 'good bike' which he's havnig to use now, so appeared to be seasoned commuter, but presumably only just started here, or normally at a different site (was asking about best place to lock up).

Has butterfly bars and a definite 'touring' set-up. My Kaff looked decidedly manky next to it!

No other cyclists seen or passed on my way home from Gyle. But then again maybe their works weren't so kind as to let them home before curfew.

Very primary and working out just how the wind was going to behave....

Forgot to mention that I spotted one of those utterly useless pavement cleaning vehicles on the Innocent this morning. You know the ones with two rotating brushes at the front that do nothing whatsoever. But it was something at least! Wasn't actually cleaning at that point as the guy was just having his piece but presumably it was.

Min they are huge hoovers, the brushes just direct the debris into the path of the vacum hose. Better than nothing.

Not spotted but HEARD over noise of traffic and "Do it Again" on the headphones.

Snow-shod man in front of me at Gilmore Place heading to meadows. Coxswean attachment on back and panniers on rack over front wheel.

Other chap on a metallic tangerine hub-geared upright almost taken out by a pedestrian who walked out into road on red across filter lane traffic as the main lights turned green. Spose he would have been at fault if he'd hit the pedestrian, but man just appeared from nowhere in middle of road and cars coming opposite way kind of blind you.

    Better than nothing.

I don't know. They dont seem to be able to remove the leaf mulch from the paths - I guess the brush height is set to chip wrappers and McDonald's "to go" bags.

And then the council will go boast somewhere that they sent "a fleet of mini tractors" down the Innocent and claim it's not their fault when someone slips on the leaf mulch and breaks bones.

Roibeard and family crossing junction of Lawnmarket going down town to enjoy our civilised city centre maybe?

So mum, the two mini riders and Roibeard following. I was late getting to showroom. A queue had formed outside the door and I had trouble getting in. (partly true)

If there's a Beltane fire festival he'll be there!

Man with beard playing xylophone under the bridge at Kings Stables Road. Pike and trailer parked up nearby, assuming that was the "van".

Actually, me and three little'uns, just that the eldest little'un is not so little!

Heading off for the Botanics and then Stockbridge for the day.

Sorry to have missed the reciprocal spot!

What I believe was a Moulton of some description being ridden by an extra past a red phone box on a London street in the film 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', on STV right now. Said bike makes an appearance about 20 mins in.

In case you are wondering, it's No.1 son that's the Harry Potter fan. I just happened to come in as the Moulton appeared...

@amir - Yep triumvirate of Islabikes, in descending size like Russian dolls!

Joel (youngest) got quite a few comments today - mostly disapproving... ("How dangerous!")

Euphonium (I think) arriving by touring bike as part of a carol-laying brass ensemble busking outside Waitrose. The big curly trumpet, anyway.

Also outside Waitrose, a black Bob Jackson 653-framed audax / light touring bike with locking ball-joint inserts in the frame at downtube and toptube to allow frame to fold.

Chap brushing his teeth whilst cycling along Morningside Road. New one on me.

  27. Two other cyclists. That was it on my commute, going in either direction, two other cyclists. Took the Innocent to avoid the wind, and t'was there that both were seen.

Okay, so maybe 8am on the first 'proper' day back at work isn't the best barometer, but just two other cyclists? Mind you. At lot less cars. Wahey!

It's strange .. it is a *bit* windy, but both ways on my commute, saw no other bikes / trikes / HPVs / anything pedal-powered at all .. nothing, nada, zip. Of course, a good deal less cars too. Could it just be because it's the 28th December, or is the wind (it was reasonably windy) affecting the turnout? Even on my recumbent trike I could feel the wind, and that's saying something.
