Recumbent on Gilmore place? heading towards leven st. 5.45ish? I waved.
I was a bit later than usual and boy were there a lot of bikes on Melville Drive -- all very hiviz.

Might've been me, SRD – I was on my little black recumbent again and wearing a black fleece top and hi-viz ankles and wrists. I would've waved back!

SRD, warning of ice on Leamington Walk. A bloke riding on the grass rather than chancing the path downhill.

@Arellcat - sounds right. I was going to say something along the lines of 'stealth recumbent' :)
@wingpig - reverse spot! Grass was definitely the only safe place to be....

Complete chump on one of those £200 "road" bikes with 7 speed bar-mounted gripshifts. Wrong way down one way section of Lothian Road onto Fountainbridge, through reds at end of Semple Street, onto pavement, across pedestrian crossing then back onto road to avoid red light at junction of Morrison Street and Torphicen and Morrison Link. Then through red at bottom of Morrison Street onto Dalry.
You will recognise him by the skateboard attached to his rucksack.
If you see him, tell him from me he's an idiot.

I look out on that corner (Fountain Bridge/Semple St) from my office, it really is suicyclist central.

Aye, every other morning I think I see someone riding the wrong way down it.

Pegging up bruntsfield place on the fixed when I lifted my head just in time to avoid the woman in the gold Yaris who was driving towards me on the wrong side of the road!!!!!!!! WTF missus!!!???

I'm sure she was probably just giving a cyclist on her side of the road plenty of room as she overtook them. Honestly, you're so selfish. Maybe she hadn't been along there since they had the single-lane contraflow thing and she hadn't noticed that the barriers wern't there anymore.

You're right ! My bad sorry . She probably had other things on her mind .
Posted 12 years ago # -
She was probably heading for a parking space.

A woman on a beautiful powder blue racer pegging up the royal mile with a huge courier bag over her shoulder and stripey socks. Very nice!
Posted 12 years ago # -
If that's an On-One Pomp she was on I think it's one of the HOBS couriers - always had big long stripey socks. German I think.
Now, was the 'very nice' aimed at the bike or the girl? Hmmm?

Both! Of course!

That'll be Eva.

A beauty in the bike shed. Lovely backet, nice bell. Think it's a Dawes Princess

JCMB secure cycle store, to the east of the lecture theatres?
Do I get extra "spotted" points?

Ah, yes, wingpig. Forgot to report the sighting. I didn't resist anything in the sale and came away with a chainset, bottom bracket, two wheels, cables, single speed converter and sprocket, all of which are now attached to the Pompino frame that is languishing in my garage.
In other news, I spotted a nice new Croix de Fer as I rode into work today. It was perched directly beneath my bottom, courtesy of HMG and the cycle to work scheme. Sweet.

":D teh internets is c00l!"
Degrees of separation and all that jazz - it's fun when that kind of thing all comes together!
Was spotted by Mr riffian this morning on a frankly gorgeous green Ellis Briggs. I was much jealous and a tad embarrassed at the beat-up Kaff receiving a compliment.
Nice to have some company on part of the commute - I'm not my most voluble when riding, as I'm normally struggling for breath, so I may have slowed down Mr riffian in order that I was able to maintain conversation.

Well done Roibeard!

the beat-up Kaff - Well loved!
Liked the 'moustachio' bars - an unusual sight.Good to share some of the ride in. I'm not sure my pace is any quicker than the generous Mr Anth...
The Ellis Briggs is rarely seen on the commute - but was brought into action last week due to rear wheel spoke failure on my beat up old Dawes.
Then on Friday commute the EB experienced cycle path abuse when its (Continental Ultra Sport) tyre was sliced open and punctured. Meaning lockup at Ainsley Park Leisure, bus home and retrieve by car later in the evening... Reflects other thread comments about using tyres fit for purpose - the 'Ultra Sports' are definitely not tough enough for Edinburgh's cycle paths.

Steveo, heading West on the Slateford Road c. 6PM. on the Johnny 5 singlespeed I was waiting to turn at top of Robertson Avenue.
Bearded chap on blue and yellow Peugeot fixed almost came a cropper on Gorgie Road a few minutes earlier, filtering up side of cars outside McDonalds the rotating crank hit the kerbstone and for a moment I thought he was down. Good recovery.
Man in trapper hat on an upright pavement cycling almost took me out by hopping off pavement right infront of me outside Victor Paris showroom without checking his shoulder. I offered advice about pavement cycling and checking over shoulder before manoeuvring

Think I may know your bearded Peugeot, K. Glad to hear he stayed upright!
Posted 12 years ago # -
Didn't see you Kappers. I've still never seen that light in action, how does it look in traffic?
Posted 12 years ago # -
