Field full of black sheep.

Spotted today, a very tooled-up commuter bike, with dual pannier racks, reflective tape everywhere and five headlights.
<JC> If it was car, it would be...an ochre Land Rover Discovery with snorkel kit, roo bars, spotlights, sand ladders and winch. </JC>

Bikebin attached to a bike, in a lovely raspberry colour.
Enquired of provenance from rider (stopped at MMW/LP intersection): online. Says Bike station to start stocking them? I mentioned TBC. But don't think they do this colour.

My first Spotted: Roibeard in the Meadows with daughter testing out a LaidBack device. Ended up having a go on each other's bikes, with me being hopelessly wobbly on the 'bent and Roibeard not loving his first fixed gear experience. He'll be back...
Thence into LBB itself for a natter to the man himself.

I think this is Kaputnik's spot, because by the time I spotted him he had Recognition Face on, but anyway: Kap, rushed off his feet and off his wheels, by the St. James.

Sorry I didn't stop for more chittity chattity, was running late to meet PS to cycle to Bo'ness for the 'croass. I had come through Waverley station and forgotten you can't turn a right if you come out of Calton Road, so had to do a bit of dismounting, running across pavement and then hopping back onto roading.

ruggtomcat on Saturday around midday-ish. South-east corner of Duddingston Loch, I'd stopped on the way back from a few chores in the car in the hope of seeing the otter from the morning. Turned to go back to the car and saw the trailered-bent heading south away from me.

Bakfiets coming towards me on Magdalen Yard Road, Dundee this afternoon, heading west in the sunshine as I pootled to the station. I have to say I was astonished to see it. A bakfiets? In Dundee?
The rider was a young woman with long hair, no cycle-specific clothing, very Amsterdamize. In the box were two children, presumably coming back from nursery or primary school. Also their bags, toys including a balance bike, and shopping.
What a pleasant surprise! Put me in a good mood, which was just as well as the train was mobbed.

Nice! Is that outside Soul Cycles?

"outside Soul Cycles?"
Yep

Hmm. If it's the version with optional SRAM P5 Cargo hub gear, looks very useful. If it's just a 3 speed, might be a bit hard work in hilly Edinburgh with 80kg on the front carrier!

I think it is 5 or 7 speed. details on their fb page. I'd been eyeing it up, but price a bit beyond me at present.

Laidback, Meadow Place. Actually, the sun was in my eyes so I couldn't be sure but it's a safe bet.

Just had a spin on the Max Pack, definitely a 5 speed. Although billed as a ladies bike, the frame seems quite large, and I think you'd need to be 5'6"+ to avoid unseating at the lights.
Pity, as I like the load being on the frame rather than on the handlebars, and was thinking of it for my "girls".

Late with this one....
Laidback, yesterday - taking two new bent owners for inaugural spin.
One almost had a wee off at the top of Marchmont Crescent, but understandable as LB said it was their first time on.
p.s. the new bents looked superb - and clean ! compared to my SS !!

Morningsider sensibly taking the road rather than the links/MMW. The paths weren't too bad. Frosty though, and I was glad of a chance to try my studded tire (fitted last week thanks to Laidback). Bikes on them were mostly taking care, which was good to see.

That Max Pack would be great for Josie to take both boys to school. I could pop a child seat on the front and back. How much was it for sale for Robert?
£395 on their Facebook page.

Bright yellow Moulton - spaceframe? - black front and rear carrier racks. Looking very high tech and space-agey.
Posted 12 years ago # -
SRD, I wonder if that might've been Michael Perkins? He's a long-time Moultoneer from these parts.
Posted 12 years ago # -
@SRD quite possibly this one?
