someone with a bike and a tent camping out in the trees down by the WoL... nice for them but not permitted?
Posted 12 years ago # -
Wild camping is perfectly legal in Scotland, some restrictions apply but mostly around crop fields and lambing season. Though I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable doing it in and around Edinburgh...

thanks for the tip, I once picked up a couple hitch hiking from Glsgow to Edinburgh - they weer Couch Surfing but when we got to Edinburgh they couldn't reach their next host so had to camp - Mortonhall was too expensive and it was getting dark (and wet) so I gave them my couch instead and they got to dry their tent n the shower rail and use the washing machine. Helped them plan their one day whistlestop tour of Edinburgh online and print out maps with a route to walk. good.samaritan.com

Two road type bikes/riders and a chap on a flat barred bike going down Shieldhill main street near Falkirk this morning, they seemed most amused to see me out walking a grumpy smudgling back into the land of nod!

get your wifi and coffee? Had to go buy my fruit et al for the week.
Posted 12 years ago # -
We did indeed. Although most of chdot's second coffee wound up on the table and floor (and miraculously not me...).

a girl who had figured out you needed lights at night but clearly missed the bit about a white one on the front and a red one on the back...she was sporting identical flashing red ones that were fading a little in power on the front and back. I'd have said something to her but I was unfortunately on a bus at the time.

An otherwise unremarkable cyclist who appeared to be cycling wearing slippers...

Spotted Dave! Yay! I spotted someone else! (anth last time). I was riding home along the Warriston cycle path from Tesco over the Water of leith when nearly blinded by an awsome white light from a white bike with a fantastic looking trainer with a box strapped to the rear with blue (recycling cover) on and as it passed I thought Dave, and shouted such. Don't know if you hear me Dave? These people which bright dynamo lights tsk tsk... in day time too ;-) (my new Dynamo whell will be built up very soon).

Min, heading across from Jeffrey Street to St Mary's Street. I shouted, as I waited at the lights heading up the Royal Mile, but the noise of rain plus traffic probably drowned me out, plus there was a very concentrated look on the traffic ahead...
Posted 12 years ago # -
It was definitely not deliberate! I was trying to figure out if it was worth filtering down St Mary's Street (I decided not). Plus yes, the rain was dingin doon.

Spotted a low riding Roibeard this evening tooling along Stenhouse Drive and evading the rain and hail. I was tooling along in the other direction (on motorbicycle) to evade the insane clag-up of cars on the A71 and Longstone Road.

I was just about to post that! Roibeard recumbenttering along Dundee Street. I was in disguise as a disgruntled pedestrian.
