@chdot I see that Bianchi quite regularly around town. It has those fancy hand-made (in Scotland I think) wooden mudguards.

Was that Nelly I saw by the tram bride works at the Gyle? Black single speed and friendly chap, either way.

Morning Bruce - indeed it was, thought it was you (nutcase helmet and beard are a dead giveaway!), couldnt tell 100% as my glasses were so fogged up.

Sorry we didnt get to chat, but that crossing had held me up for ages and it just hit green as you arrived.

    Here?

Was there yesterday, first time for ages. New bridge without a bike bit - there's a surprise.

Rest of the 'cycle facility' typical Edinburgh -

The thing I'm learning is that you usually meet cyclists twice.

One meeting is when upright with nothing on their head and face, such as PY/Zazou meets or if riding lidless cyclechic on a sit'n'beg, and the other when hunched over and wearing shades and a helmet.

There's remarkably little crossover in terms of recognition, so: nice to meet you, Nelly Mk2. Already met Nelly Mk1 in Zazou, of course.

chdot - funny, I ride that every day, and have never noticed the 'cyclists dismount' sign !

I am usually on the road though.

Dude on a BSO being chastised my two foot plod. Looked like they were giving him grief about the state of his bike. When they waved him off he cycled straight through a red light and round a corner whilst on the wrong side off the road then up onto the pavement nearly hitting a mother with a pushchair....

Bright young thing on a Brompton cycling all they way up Howe St. - on pavement. That way you don't have to bother with traffic lights. I noticed that no one said anything to her. Attitudes must be changing... I reckon mixed mode cycling will increase (ie pavement and road) as more people take to two wheels. Also saw Husky Girl about to.take on MMW with dog in lead.

Fimm, that was me - were you on the black Brompton? I think I cast a cheery (for Edinburgh anyway) glance in your direction as I went past.

    Yes, black Brompton, black coat.
I was thinking about how high off the ground you were seated, compared with the recumbent trike I've seen round there once or twice.

Not this week, Rugg; the other one. I'm working on getting the odometer up to 5000 miles. Mind you, I'm missing the narrow Q-angle of the monstrousbike's cranks.

@Ruggtomcat Hang on...does that mean they've taken the recumbent ideal to the next level and have the rider so supine he or she in under the bike?

Where do they get those wonderful toys?

On that note, is anyone else conflicted as to which Joker is best? It's just so ruddy difficult to compare Nicholson's apples to Ledger's not-even-a-fruit.

(that last comparison courtesy of Wingpig)

Oh and one of my friends say they saw two recumbents cycling together, how very unusual :D

A nice black hub-geared, 531-framed Mixté outside Sandy Bells, looked rather like a Guvnor at the front end. It got a POP leaflet anyway.

Also a luric metallic lime Raleigh Twenty in same location. Got a leaflet too, those little spring-loaded shopper racks are great for putting them under.

Talking of rumours Nelly, I would ask for your money back from that plastic surgeon - at first glance I took you for a bloke.

SRD is a machine. That is all.

Following her example is mini-SRD with BikeFan as backup:

    BikeFan's bike is hilariously light:

Positive I saw Uberuce today in a group heading back to M'burgh...Prestonpans I think it was, not far from the Dragon Way, the Chinese with the extra realistic, very colourful, plastic palm trees on the roof. I was leading a group going the other way.

Yep, that'd be me. I was out with the new Porto-Velo club this morning on that route, although I confess I can't remember the Dragon Way.

There were a few groups out and about, but I think I know which one you were. Something like ten of you in single file at the time?

Yes, nine of us. I was in red at the front with a black beanie all the others had h****ts on, mostly green hi viz jackets.
